How to downgrade firmware from 5.3.4 to 4.9

Recommended Posts

I upgraded from 4.9 to 5.3.4 and I realize now that I have the 300 series Z-wave and not the 500, so my Z-wave status shows "Z-wave dongle not responding"

I've tried re-flashing the 4.9 backup I had overtop of the 5.3.4 and while it finished fine, the firmware still shows 5.3.4. I did a factory reset using the button on the front but that didn't help.

Can anyone suggest how to get back to 4.9 so I can re-build everything?

I hope you’ve got a good backup. If so reset the ISY and then follow steps including clearing Java cache to install 4.9. Should be able to restore good backup with minimal rebuilding.

Thanks, that seemed to work. Appreciate it!

@DarkCanuck If you want to get back on the 5.x branch with the 300 series z-wave the highest version you can go to is 5.0.16C.

Just a side note if you use the default email server to send notifications you need to start a support ticket with UD to get email server credentials as they were updated in 4.9 and a later version of 5.3.x.

So you're not stuck with 4.9 if you wanted to get into the mix of the 5.x goodness. Just realize that you can't go any higher than 5.0.16C without upgrading the z-wave controller.

@Geddy, great info, thanks! The email notifications are working for me at 4.9 without having to get UD involved (I use a custom Pushover email to get Pushover notifications to my phone and they're working fine).

I'm not a heavy UD user, just 2 switches, 2 locks and 1 tilt sensor. Is there any compelling reason to go to 5.x? Everything is working fine right now, so I'm hesitant to upgrade for nothing.
