richardl007 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 in the configuration I'm setup to Montreal, Canada but it's showing me: Jan/9th/2010 rise: 8:21:53AM set: 5:05:54PM but when i look it up on the web, it should be: rise: 7:33AM Set: 4:30PM
Michel Kohanim Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Hello richard|007, Please try using your latitude and longitude directly instead of using the region. This will give you much more accurate sunrise/sunset times for your specific location. To do so: 1. Go to Configuration Tab | System 2. Click on Change Location and enter your own latitude and longitude With kind regards, Michel in the configuration I'm setup to Montreal, Canada but it's showing me: Jan/9th/2010 rise: 8:21:53AM set: 5:05:54PM but when i look it up on the web, it should be: rise: 7:33AM Set: 4:30PM
jsp Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Must add that Montreal, QC has wrong Lat/Long info in the configuration, the ones in there looked up on google brings you somewhere in Ontario. Any plans to correct this data? Any plans to add more cities? Any way we can put in Custom Location Name? Thanks, JS
Michel Kohanim Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Hello JS, Sincere apologies. Do you have the correct Lat/Long for Montreal? If so, it'll be fixed immediately. We do have plans for adding more cities but I think it would be easier to add Custom names and then use the Locate Me button instead (ISY finds your Lat/Long based on your ISP). With kind regards, Michel
jsp Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I used Google found my exact Lat/Long and entered as custom. As for Montreal, you could use 45.5, -73.583333 instead of what is in there now (47.14,-84.39)
Michel Kohanim Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Hello jsp, thanks so very much. Updated for 3.1.7. With kind regards, Michel
bmiller Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 What is the correct format for entering the Lat. and Long in the custom config. settings on the isy. Mine is 42.5 and 80.16. I've tried entering these in a multitude of different ways. The only thing that has been acceptable is 42.5. I'm not sure of the format for entering both. Nothing has worked at this point. Thanks Brad Miller
Michel Kohanim Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Mr. Miller, Please click on the Locate Me button ... it should give you an pretty accurate representation of your lat/long. If you are still having problems, please do send your zip code to support@universal-devices.com and we'll send you the correct lat/long. With kind regards, Michel
bmiller Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I have the Lat and Long, but whenever i try to put them in i get invalid Lat or invalid Long error I've tried the locate me button, but it doesn't respond. My Lat is 42.83576 , Long -80.30684. I am able to put in 42.8 as an acceptable input, but anything else and i get errors. I'm sure it's just the format that i'm using to put in the numbers. An example would be a great help. I've tried 42.83576, -80.30684 to no avail. Thanks for the help. Brad Miller
bmiller Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Tried that. I get invalid Latitude error. I then put in 42.8 only, and it's ok. For some reason it won't accept any additional input.
LeeG Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 That is odd as those numbers (without minus) work on my 3.2.6.
bmiller Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I know, weird. I can only get the lat. 42.8 to be accepted. It will not accept any Long. setting. It still seems to work ok. The sunset time is now 8:35.05 which seems close to the actual which is 8:39. When i click on any of the preset cities, only the lat. is displayed. Is this why it only accepts a Lat. setting? Maybe there is a bug in my software. Brad
Michel Kohanim Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 bmiller, Please do be kind enough to contact our support team so that we can figure out what's going on. What you are experiencing is not normal. With kind regards, Michel
LeeG Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Run Help | About, verify that both the Firmware line and UI line show 3.2.6. As Michel suggested opening a Ticket with UDI support is appropriate as the 3.2.6 code does not normally operate as you are experiencing.
Xathros Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Same with my 99i and 994i. Only accepts Lat not Lon. I was able to enter my Lat in decimal format as 42.9xxxxx but in now way shape or form would it accept Lon. Results were good enough with just the Lat value so I didn't bother to mention the issue. -Xathros
Michel Kohanim Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Thanks Xathros. The problem is that ISY validates the longitude against the timezone. I suspect you are in Central Time so, you must use -6 for Timezone offset BEFORE trying to set the longitude. Also, in ISY, longitudes are positive. With kind regards, Michel
bmiller Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 This i what i've tried to put in. I've also tried -80.3 for longitude with no luck. 42.8 is acceptable. I guess i'll have to contact udi support.
LeeG Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 bmiller Read the post just before your last post. Michel indicates the time offset has to be set to -6 hours before setting Long.
Xathros Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Thanks Xathros. The problem is that ISY validates the longitude against the timezone. I suspect you are in Central Time so, you must use -6 for Timezone offset BEFORE trying to set the longitude. Also, in ISY, longitudes are positive. With kind regards, Michel I'm GMT-5 Eastern. I try to enter the Lat, Lon and get Invalid Lat as an error. I've tried but positive and negative Lon with the same result every time. I selected NYC from the list and only see the Lat in the field so I don't have an example to imitate with my data. Exactly how should the Lat/Lon pair be formatted for entry ? -Xathros
LeeG Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 bmiller Run Help | About and verify Firmware and Ui both show 3.2.6. I am on 3.2.6 and have separate Lat and Long input fields.
Michel Kohanim Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Xathros, For some reason the validation routine does not work with GMT -5 and 40/80 lat/long. This might be something wrong with our validation routine but it's pretty basic. It only works with Central Time ( GMT -6). With kind regards, Michel
bmiller Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I'm in the same boat. -5 GMT offset doesn't work with the 40 lat 80 long settings. There must be a lot of people with the same problem who are just using the closest city on the programmed list and not the custom setting.
