slimypizza Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Is there a good replacement for the Insteon 2450 IO Linc ? Perhaps another manufacturer makes something similar. I haven’t found it. I use it for garage door sensor and controller.
slimypizza Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 I should have searched harder. Since posting I found a couple of ZWave options: ZWave garage door controller and perhaps the Zen17. If anyone has experience with these or can recommend something else that would be appreciated. Thanks.
oskrypuch Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 (edited) I am just trying to set up a Zen17 to monitor the garage doors. Its setup is a little tricky, at least in my brief experience. I have a mature complex Insteon setup, but this is my first foray into Z-Wave. forum.universal-devices.com/topic/36045-adding-zooz-zen17-challenges/ But, looks like I got it going. It is a nice unit with two relays and two inputs (dry contact or voltage), which can linked. * Orest Edited April 29, 2022 by oskrypuch

I/O linc worked but the interface was kinda clunky for the (non-techie) users in my family. Edited May 5, 2022 by Shawn gates

I/O linc worked but the interface was kinda clunky for the (non-techie) users in my family. The only issue that I have with MyQ (and I use it too) is that it has a cloud component. which as we know: Are subject to the internet to your residence not going offline second that the company paying for the server doesn't go away, go into bankruptcy, or just decide to pull the plug. I'm back to wanting as few cloud dependencies as possible after the Insteon debacle which didn't affect me but reminded me that cloud servers not controlled by me are problematic.
Craigb Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 For my garage door, I changed from a 2450 I/O linc after one too many "all On" events. I use a Fibaro FGBS-222 "implant" unit, coupled with a 12V brick supply and an external relay. The Implant uses a FET output, which may not handle spikes properly. So I use the implant to fire a transistor driven relay contact closure.
