jason.russo.96 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Due to the sunset of Insteon, I bought the Zwave module for my ISY 994I. I bought 2 toggle switches mainly for zwave coverage in my house. When I added the switches, it actually adds 8 devices. Only one of the devices has any control. What is the purpose of the other devices?
oskrypuch Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) Noticed the same thing with the Zen17, my first Z-Wave item. There seems to be duplication in the nodes, and some nodes are actually non-functional. I tried deleting the unused nodes, but they came back. I put them all in their own folder to keep it tidier. Don't know if you can group them as well. It may be that there is some sort of Z-Wave device definition that requires a certain general framework for compatibility. Love to hear, from someone that is informed on this. * Orest Edited April 30, 2022 by oskrypuch
Techman Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Sometimes you end up with extra nodes when you install a new Z-wave device. It's an anomaly between the ISY and Z-wave devices. You can create a new folder, call it unused nodes, and park those unused nodes in the folder. 1

I'm probably going to put them in a folder like you said to avoid the confusion of which one is the functional one.
Techman Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Sometimes you just end up with phantom nodes, if you find that you don't need them put them in a folder.
