Total and complete failure, now what?

Looks like it's the end.  My ISY stopped running programs this evening, then randomly dropped connections to various Zwave devices.

I pulled the power to cycle it and now when power is restored, the unit appears to be dead.

  • Solid blue power light. The rear blue light comes on, flashes 5 times, then turns off. No other lights ever light up.
  • Network cable shows some blinking, but never appears on network.
  • Null modem cable never shows any activity on boot up.
  • Reset button does absolutely nothing.

Super frustrating.  I even replaced the power supply, and that didn't help either.

Highly unlikely the ISY failed.

If you're sure the power supply is working, then you can also try removing power from the ISY, then remove the SD card and clean the contacts with a soft eraser.

I agree with @Techman it's probably the power supply.  I'll add three things tho, 1) there's a batch of power supplies that were shipped with 994's that tend to fail.  2) the blue light can still come on when the supply has failed (it doesn't take much power and is connected directly to the power input).  3) you can try a wide range of power supplies, from troubleshooting in the wiki:

  • Only Power Light Is On:
    • Most probably power supply related. You can try any power supply that outputs anywhere between 5 volt and 30 volts, center positive, 2mm barrel connector
