OpenSocket Failed SSDPClient

Hello all,

As usual, once I get everything running, I make a change that seems simple, but end up with unexpected errors.

I had my Polisy configured and running for a few days. But it's IP address was random, not the one I wanted. After removing my Insteon Hub, I wanted the Polisy to have that IP address. So I made changes in my router to reserve that IP address. My Polisy now has the intended IP address, but everytime I open the admin console, I have this error "Socket Open Failed SSDPClient".

Is it related to this IP change?

How can I fix it?

Thanks,

If you didn't change any settings on Polisy, then it's likely your router cannot find Polisy or Polisy still has the previous IP Address. Unplug the router, then power cycle all Ethernet switches, WiFi access points, and Polisy, finally apply power to router so addresses are reset.

Hi Javi,

Thanks for the reply. So I did as you suggested.

  1. Unplug router
  2. Unplug Polisy
  3. Unplug Switch
  4. Wait 30 seconds
  5. replug router and wait for complete boot
  6. replug switch
  7. replug Polisy
  8. Connect to admin console and the error is still there

I did factory reset my router. But it's a pretty basic router. I didn't make lots of changes from factory defaults, except for IP reservation and a few Port triggers.

If the problem is in the router, which parameter/setup I should be looking for?

Ok, it seems to be related to one computer in particular. If I try it from computer A, I see a message at login on the admin console. If I try it on computer B, it's OK, no error message. I cleared java cache, but it doesn't fix the error message.

I cleared java cache,

Edit to add:  Reboot the computer before any of the below...  Open socket is a network issue, reboot may solve.

did you check the unchecked box? image.png.3b17ec0762c0c22278a13f71085824d9.png

(you should).  You're likely using the ISY launcher, You can also delete that from your desktop and remove the start.jnlp file then redownload start.jnlp.  I don't think you should need that step.

And of course the nuclear option is uninstall Java, find and delete the java temp directory (usually: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java ) and then reinstall a fresh download of java from https://www.java.com although you shouldn't need this option either.

I suspect it's checking the delete option "Installed Applications and Applets" that will help.

Thanks MrBill,

The java install is a brand new install. My previous clear java cache already included the "Installed Applications and Applets", but I did it again just in case.

I redownloaded start.jnlp just in case.

But I think the computer reboot really solved the problem.

Thanks again.
