apostolakisl Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I have made a number of additions and changes to my insteon network. I had to replace a number of bad insteon switches (the standard bad microswitch deal) and have added new scenes and whatnot to the ISY. I would like to go ahead and bring the Elk up to date with these changes. Here is the question. If I download from ISY and then upload that file to Elk, will everything stay in the same place? In other words, will the stuff that didn't change stay exactly the same? What about the switches I replaced? Will they stay in the same place on the Elk but get the new addresses? I fear that if I do the upload that all of the internal Elk addresses may get out of allignment forcing me to find every Elk rule that includes an insteon device and rewrite it to the new Elk address. This would be a pain that I don't want! Or perhaps I should just wait for the Elk module. I assume that the Elk module under development will make Elk's built in control of Insteon superfluous. ???
Michel Kohanim Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hello apostolakis, 1. All those that have not changed remain unchanged 2. Those that you've replace might have different positions (i.e. X10 addresses) Unfortunately, I am not sure how the ELK module will solve this mostly because we would have to go through a migration process to normalize the addresses. With kind regards, Michel I have made a number of additions and changes to my insteon network. apostolakisl Posted January 24, 2010 Author Posted January 24, 2010 What can you say about work on the Elk interface under development? It would really be nice if I could let ISY rules respond to Elk status.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hello apostolakisl, The first thing would be a more intelligent mapping between ISY nodes and ELK devices. Secondly, ISY should be able to respond to ELK events including zone status. With kind regards, Michel What can you say about work on the Elk interface under development? It would really be nice if I could let ISY rules respond to Elk status.
