Zooz ZEN71 vs ZEN72

I just installed some Zooz ZEN71 and ZEN72 switches in a newly remodeled section of our house and have noticed something unexpected - the ZEN71 can be added to a scene as a scene controller, but the ZEN72 (dimmer) can only be added as a responder - can anyone elaborate on why?

EDIT: also, the Zen72 doesn't show up when trying to write a program to trigger when it is turned on...

You'd have to ask Zooz why not. Being scene capable depends on the device firmware. I suspect because the 71 can only be on/off vs the dimmer which can have multiple (just a guess. I don't really know).

Are you trying to use control or status for your program? Since it can't be used as a controller, I doubt it would show up using control as a condition

I'm trying to use control = action of the switch being turned on or off - in my mind, both of these devices should be able to report when someone turns them on or off

I wish that I had installed all ZEN71's because I'm really not sure how much I will actually be using the dimming feature - this was not a problem with Insteon dimmers

When it comes to zwave, I would forget insteon. You're only causing yourself more frustration.
