Motion sensor not working after battery change

Featured Replies

My motion sensor (2842-222) turns on a light. The battery in the motion sensor died, I changed it, and now the motion sensor doesn't turn the light on. I have deleted the device and the program and re-linked/re-created them and it still doesn't work. I have also restarted the ISY and PLM with no success.

I fiddled with the motion sensor settings and it appears to be picking up the motion but the program does not run. When I move, the red light inside blinks. The light that the motion sensor controls also works independently of the motion sensor - I can turn it on and off at the switch and from my phone.

I didn't realize there was a factory reset method for the motion sensor. I reset the sensor (remove battery, hold down button, reconnected battery), re-added it to the ISY and it works now.

All Insteon devices have a factory reset method. They are complex CPU based devices and can get goofy at times.

Always, always factory reset new Insteon devices before linking them into ISY to avoid many hidden problems. They come out of the factory in many unknown states.
