Just got a ISY-99I and I can't figure how to get the auto update for 2.7.11... I've registered for the update however my current 2.7.7 will not auto update...Appreciate the help!

Jim

Jim, read the instructions. The alpha updates are not automatic.

Just upgraded from 2.7.10 to 2.7.11 and it looks like everything is there. When I do 'About', it shows my URL. However, the internet access that was enabled in 2.7.10 does not enable in 2.7.11.

When I try to enable it, I get the message "Failed Enabling Internet Access".

When I fire up the Java applet, it shows both the local and internet addresses. If I select the internet address (while local), it loads up. When I have a chance to try it remotely, I will.

The upgrade went just fine, the devices I had trouble with in the past, or at least the kpl update fine now but I get a new error message with the 2 devices that are in the same room as the ISY and access point.

x-110022 couldn't open file [/conf/web.cfg]

x-200000 failed writing device link [gameroom lights]

I was seeing a high rate of scene failures in 2.7.10 so I waited for the 2.7.11 alpha to see if that would fix things. However it still seems when doing a scene test regardless of the amount of devices in it the scene fails. If I turn the scene on manually the scene works fine (or so far as a few tests). Using 2.7.6 my scenes tested fine (as I can remember) but with the larger scenes that have over 20 devices I would get a missed device here and there. It happened daily on my sunset scene, there was an issue with a different device each day. Hoping for better luck with the newer firmware the scene seems to make work more reliable manually but now I am not able to do a reliable test. Anyone else have issues with the "scene test" in level 3?

Also if you try and right click on a device under "My Lighting" that if its just the last device or next to last showing in a long list of devices it doesnt work? You have to scroll down to move the device higher then it allows you to right click on it? Happened in 2.7.10 too. I can replicate everytime I login so its a bug for sure. I can only right click on the 4th to the last device listed under my lighting. It seems to be a bug preventing you to click on the last three devices shown.

One more question, not sure if its doable (or maybe its there and I just dont know it) but is it possible to have a way that programs can set all devices in a scene to a specific level? For example I have a entry with 3 switches - I would like to be able to have the program set all the switches in the scene to 50% at sunset instead of having to set them individually line by line. I know there maybe an issue for just devices that are ON/OFF but maybe those could default to on if requested to be set at 1% or more. I am aware you can "adjust a scene" but it still is just by device not "all the devices" in the scene.

Could the drop down in the programs for a device contain the folder where the device resides along with the device name like it shows in under the status under the main tab? For instance instead of showing "Lights" in the drop down it would show "front room/lights".

Hello all,

Apologies for a collective response.

DADsHome,

It seems that your router already has this enabled. In most cases, rebooting the router would fix the problem UNLESS you have another device that is using the same port.

robandcathy,

I would not worry about /conf/web.cfg.

Please try factory resetting the problematic device and retry. Also, please make sure that the load for this device is not a CFL or low voltage transformer.

huddadudda,

Would you please check and see how many SWL v35s you have?

As far s the menu not appearing, this was supposed to be fixed in 2.7.11 ... can you please try clearing your Java cache? Also, please do ensure that you use the correct URL.

Unfortunately, INSTEON group commands do not support changing the on level/ramp rates for scenes. As such, you will have to do them individually.

RLIKWARTZ

Yes, added to the list.

The limit on folders depends on the model you have. 99i Series supports up to 255 folders, scenes, and devices (buttons). PRO supports up to 1024 scenes, folders, and devices (buttons).

With kind regards,

Michel

I have 19 SWL v35, plus a few in the closet not used yet. Is there a known issue with SWL v35s? If so I must have missed a post. I cleared my Java before posting this "bug" but doesnt work and I tested on 3 different PC's. Its always the same url ip/admin. Too bad about the not being able to adjust everything in the scene but thats not your fault. I will continue to just setup a scene with the preset levels for the sunset then use other means to control the changes.

Thanks!

I've not hit the limit on my pro then. Something else I've seen is it will allow me to add folders under folders in some cases and in other cases the folder doesn't appear. It doesn't produce a error just the folder doesn't appear. I've not determined if there is some difference in one case than the other, but nothing I can see.

well in fact the two switches I have had issues with, one controlls lights that use cfl and the switch located next to it controlls a fan, BUT I have the same setup in two other rooms and do not have problems. We may be onto something here lol. I acutally have most of the lighting in my house as cfl.

FWIW regarding CFL bulbs. I am using firmware 2.7.11 to control both my front patio, back patio and side garage door light all of which have CFLs with switchlincs (non-dimmable) and these seem to never give me problems and work almost 100% of the time. Not a perfect solution but a work around maybe is to use the "repeat" command "X" amount of times. I found this to help when sometimes the command wont take everytime. I also use "wait" commands between turning multiple scenes on at the same time.

Michel,

I linked in a 2421 today, that I had not used for a month. Got it to link fine.

What I was wondering is should it have a little light next to it, I was expecting to see the same as the MS. I was also surprised to see that it has a ramp rate and on level.

This was done in 2.7.11.

Thanks

That explains all the intermittent scene issues you've been experiencing. Perhaps not all your SWL v35s have the same issue but, unfortunately so, it's very difficult to figure out which one does and which one does not. SmartHome is pretty good at replacing them.

Are you sure you are using the latest version of Admin Console client? In releases prior to 2.7.8, folders could only be added at top level and not right under another folder.

robandcathy

As you may have noticed, I do have a set of basic questions (like a robot) that I go through

When we deal with device communications, the main issues are either noise in which case CFL, Low Voltage Transformers, un-bridged phases, and defect devices play important roles. In short, to isolate the problem, we first have to figure out if indeed the CFL load is NOT the problem and then we can move on to the my next set of questions!

Great and thanks so very much for the update.

The one I have has a little green LED inside.

Where do you see on level and ramp rate?

Michel,

I am seeing this in the admin console under devices.

I'm running the current admin console and the java cache has been cleared. This problem isn't consistant across all folders. I'll have one folder that will allow me to add one and then in the same session I'll go down to another and it will. I'll then create a folder outside the one that won't allow me to add one to it and move that new folder to the problem folder and the new folder will be moved there. I've not figure out why one and not another.

Are you telling me that there is an issue with the SWL v35 and the ISY or that it could be an issue with the SWL and thats all? I didnt seem to have any issues with the SWL prior to the newest firmware. Only in the 2.7.10 and 2.7.11 firmware are the scene tests failing. I am not too excited to find I might have to spend a half a day changing out SWL! I find it hard to believe they are the issue when the previous firmware was working. To downgrade back to 2.7.6 I would manually select the firmware and then reload the backup I took of the ISY before the upgrade since there were internal changes with the newest firmware?

AnthemAVM,

Thanks so very much. Found it and fixed it (the dim/bright button on the TriggerLinc page).

huddadudda,

Scene tests are simply sending a signal and waiting for responses back. That part of the code has not changed for almost 2 years. So, I can guarantee you the problem is not ISY. I can also tell you that in 99% of the cases (do a quick search on SWL v35) with the symptoms you are experiencing, SWL 35s are the culprit. It may be one or two of them wreaking havoc on your INSTEON network but I am almost certain that's where the problem is. I am so very sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news.

If you wish to downgrade to 2.7.6, install 2.7.6 and then restore your backup for 2.7.6.

With kind regards,

Michel
