jr2 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) Having difficulty auto or manual upgrade. I do have some zwave items. I have v 4.80. Get socket error connection closed. Was not even able to access from my pc as error forbidden kept coming up. Was able to finally use ud launcher, bit it keeps timing out and not saving my changes. Btw, I do not access very often, it was pretty much set it and forget it. Last night was the first time trying to access in prob six months. Usually only access for seasonal changes due to lighting. Also get error when trying to complete a backup. I have a good backup from 2 years ago. Edited November 3, 2022 by jr2 Add info
MrBill Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Have you tried just rebooting? Pull the plug, wait a minute and plug it back in. Or if you can get into the admin console use the reboot button on the config page.
jr2 Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 Have tried all even tried to set back to factory defaults and even that didn't take

Geddy Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 @jr2 what operating system are you on? Windows or macOS? When you're logged into admin console go to Help -> About and look at Firmware and UI and make sure those version match EXACTLY. This sounds like a Java memory error. What version Java are you running? If you're on Java Version 8 Update 351 make sure you clear the java cache (make sure you select all 3 options Delete any admin.jnlp or start.jnlp from anywhere on your computer. Then download a fresh copy of the ISY Launcher from UDI's website. Run the launcher and it should install the ISY Launcher icon on the desktop. Now run the ISY Launcher and access admin console through that process. If you still have issues then increase the memory. Quote Java runtime memory (when Admin Console is very slow to respond) - If the admin console is slow to respond, it is likely you need to increase the amount of memory allocated to the Java runtime (JRE). - Open the Java Control Panel, select Java tab, press View button, then add or modify the Runtime Parameter -Xmx to the following: o -Xmx512m - Press Ok to close the window, then Press Apply to save the changes (Note: if you are on a powerful system this "512m" can be increased to 1024m) The above instructions work best for Windows users. MAC users tend to have hit and miss success with Java and ISY Launcher. So fingers crossed your a Windows user and this gets you going. Please note that in the 4.x branch you will only be able to auto update to the 4.9 version. If you try to venture into the 5.x branch it is a manual upgrade and requires a lot of attention to detail. Get to 4.9 first then if you think you need to go further you can read more about that in the Current Release posts.
Solution jr2 Posted November 4, 2022 Author Solution Posted November 4, 2022 I finally was able to get a factory reset and restore from backup. Then was able to upgrade. All appears working OK now. 4
