MarkJames Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Is there a difference between launching the admin console from http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.12/admin.jnlp vs just pointing my browser straight to the ISY? Why would you use one over the other? mark
Michel Kohanim Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hi Mark, Good question! The answer is: it all depends on the version of your ISY's firmware. Here's the structure of the URLs on our website: http://www.universal-devices.com/platform/[firmware_version] 1. platform is mandatory ... so, /99i will always have the last official release of the Admin Console 2. firmware_version is optional .. so, /99i/2.7.12 points to the Admin Console for firmware 2.7.12 So, if your ISY's firmware is equal to the [firmware_version] in the above URL, then there's absolutely no difference between pointing your browser to ISY or going to our website, except for: The Admin Console from our website "searches" the network for your ISY (so this is good if you have forgotten your ISY's IP address), whereas the Admin Console from ISY already "knows" where ISY is. With kind regards, Michel W
MarkJames Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 ahh... thank you. So as long as I find ISY just fine through my regular browser session to the ISY ip there's no reason for me to use the launcher. Excellent. I'll keep that link info around in case I need it one day, though. mark
Goose66 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Having the admin console available from the UD website is nice for recovering a corrupt ISY-99i, for example when an update goes wrong.
