v 5 to v 8 upgrade issues

Currently have v 5 installed on ipad - also have v8 installed on same ipad. V5 has desired configuration for all devices - v8 is completely blank - no devices. Roomie says to "Restore Purchases" on v5 and v8 will autopopulate. Doesn't happen. Nothing is transferred.

Any ideas?
