satwar Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 One of my garage door openers failed, but it's been so long I've forgotten what is the code. I am using a insteon 2450 control device. It's been so long I can't remember all the steps required. I created a scene for each garage door ( Left Door Control & Right Door Control) and then created Left Door Relay & Left Door Status designed as controllers and responders I created four programs (see attached)Door Control.docx I'd appreciate any help
oberkc Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 I do not use programs for garage door status or control. All is done with scenes. What happened to your existing programs or scenes? A failure of a controller would not cause loss of any programs or scenes? How do you expect your system to operate? (What are your functional requirements?)
MrBill Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 Those programs are hard to read and I think missing a few characters (also not everyone has word, or will download docx files--- virus threats spread by word files are real). When you have the need to post programs please right click the program name, choose the last item-- copy to clipboard -- then paste the program into a forum message (right click in the post and choose PASTE or simply click into the post and type CTRL-V). I think you must have some scene's involved as well. The top two control programs don't seem to have anything to activate them, they aren't called by the lower two programs. Missing info, need complete picture. as @oberkc mentions you may also have some scene's involved. You also seem to be doing something non-standard. here's one commonly used method, see also the ISY Cookbook page 368 (pdf page 391). 1
satwar Posted December 18, 2022 Author Posted December 18, 2022 You are correct, I started to panic when the door opener failed. I have attached the Word file Door Control.docx, although there might be a better choice. There are four (4) programs Left Door Control, Left Door Query, Right Door Control, Right Door Control, Right Door Query I have replaced the Right door opener but it's a different brand so I'm not sure where I connect to the new motor. The open / close sensor still indicates the correct door status based on position relative to the garage floor. I created one scene for each garage door which operates the insteon 2450 connection with the opener motor. I'll wait and see what happens when I connect the insteon 2450 to the door opener.
satwar Posted December 18, 2022 Author Posted December 18, 2022 The four programs are copied below. I think I will attempt to wire the motor to the insteon 2450 first and if it fails I'll try out the programs you suggested. Left Door Control - [ID 0040][Parent 003F] If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Garage / Left Door Status' Query Wait 3 seconds Set 'Garage / Left Door Relay' On Wait 3 seconds Set 'Garage / Left Door Relay' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Logic works to open or close garage door, but not required since developing process for opening/closing and showing door status in a single widget in Dashboard or Near Me / Today View Left Door Query - [ID 0053][Parent 003F] If 'Garage / Left Door Status' Status is Off And 'Garage / Left Door Relay' Status is On Then Wait 10 seconds Set 'Garage / Left Door Status' Query Set 'Garage / Left Door Relay' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Fixes problems with garage door relays staying on after door is closed. Also queries the staus of door after closing to ensure it is closed. Right Door Control - [ID 0041][Parent 003F] If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set 'Garage / Right Door Status' Query Wait 3 seconds Set 'Garage / Right Door Relay' On Wait 3 seconds Set 'Garage / Right Door Relay' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Logic works to open or close garage door, but not required since developing process for opening/closing and showing door status in a single widget in Dashboard or Near Me / Today View Right Door Query - [ID 0054][Parent 003F] If 'Garage / Right Door Status' Status is Off And 'Garage / Right Door Relay' Status is On Then Wait 10 seconds Set 'Garage / Right Door Status' Query Set 'Garage / Right Door Relay' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Fixes problems with garage door relays staying on after door is closed. Also queries the staus of door after closing to ensure it is closed.

Use the place to connect two low voltage wires, but only use the terminals for the buttons not the other ones for the safety beam.😁 In all seriousness tho, not every new garage door opener will accept a momentary contact anymore. Some such as newer Liftmaster are expecting an electronic control and if you want to use a momentary button you need an interface for that, or you need to solder to an existing wall controls actual button. 1

Agree, newer doors mostly need a coded signal to trigger. It's no longer as easy as attaching two wires. Very frustrating. I got around this because I had an extra "car opener" remote so I opened it and soldered wires to it to create the "coded momentary close" that is needed as if the button was pushed. My elk output relays, close the circuit as directed by IoX via automation, Alexa, Remote Link, cold temperature (heated garage), etc. A wired open/ closed door sensor, separate from above, reports to Elk the status of the door allowing "smart interactions" --> "Alexa shut the garage doors", IoX decides which of three doors need closing, blinks garage lights, sets a chime off as warning, shuts the proper door(s), and retries twice if needed and then reports back its results via elk announcements to a russound whole house sound system .... Once you figure out the work around for the garage door interface, they IoX is amazing as usual to do anything you want. Plenty here can help. Another option is to get a MyQ hub / sensor on sale at amazon for $20! if it will work with your doors, and then get the Polyglot for myQ https://smile.amazon.com/Smart-Garage-Opener-Chamberlain-myQ-G0401/dp/B08GD3D9YJ/ref=sxin_15_pa_sp_search_thematic_sspa?content-id=amzn1.sym.d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521%3Aamzn1.sym.d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521&cv_ct_cx=myq&keywords=myq&pd_rd_i=B08GD3D9YJ&pd_rd_r=66a04fc1-524c-4fef-b25b-34acf6ec5e9a&pd_rd_w=pYfJ2&pd_rd_wg=v7mgA&pf_rd_p=d5d2dbeb-b217-4d41-ad6b-bc4af55d7521&pf_rd_r=FYFHA1T0REEQGXHQ6BHQ&qid=1671388606&sr=1-1-a73d1c8c-2fd2-4f19-aa41-2df022bcb241-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQ1pPVkwwMDU2N0o4JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTQzNDEzUVlCUkZTMTJEUlYzJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0NTU5NjgzSEVQU0sxQlU5SVJBJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3Bfc2VhcmNoX3RoZW1hdGljJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1
