KevinInToronto Posted December 28, 2022 Share Posted December 28, 2022 I have several 6 button KPL switches and one of them has always had trouble communicating with my ISY994i. It takes many tries to write updates up the device, and it fails with "communication error" often. If I keep trying it eventually works. Can this issue be resolved by replacing components? larryllix Posted December 28, 2022 Share Posted December 28, 2022 Try finding your noise makers that may be interfering with your Insteon signals. Garage door openers were my problem and became very obvious when I installed a second unit containing battery backup. In fact that one crippled all my Insteon signals until I unplugged it. You mention switches, not dimmers and my understanding is they stopped making switches a long time ago. I had a KPL switch and it did the same thing and eventually died. I replaced with a new dual band KPL Dimmer and fortunately the load was able to work with dimmer. Maybe changing capacitors will work too.
