Envirogreen Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 three things: This is something that I've wanted since I first started using Scenes. An ability to embed a scene in another scene. This would dramatically simplify the management of scenes, reducing time and errors. Add new devices from the scene itself Ability to add multiple devices to a scene at once (understanding that the writing to devices needs to be serial, but could simplify the human clicks and time if this was enabled)

Scenes are at the mercy of the devices themselves to a certain degree. In addition, scene design is for a group of devices to function as a separate entity from other devices. Programs could run multiple scenes I that's what you're after. 2) what do you mean add new devices from the scene itself? Are you referring to adding them to the isy family? 3) this is already possible. Has been available at least from the 99. Ctrl and click on each device you want to add.

Programs could run multiple scenes I that's what you're after. - if I have the following 3 scenes All off Kitchen All off Dining RM All off Living Rm and I wanted to create an All Off 1st Floor scene I can either add all the devices to this new scene individually OR I could embed the 3 scenes listed above into the All off 1st Floor. That way if I added/removed something from All off Kitchen it would automatically be inherited by the All Off 1st Floor scene. This wouldn't need to be dependent on the device the IOP can have the logic needed to ensure that The All off 1st fl scene writes the same way whether it has all the devices individually included or the 3 scenes embedded. 32 minutes ago, lilyoyo1 said: 2) what do you mean add new devices from the scene itself? Should be able to right click on a scene and see Add devices to the scene...with that a device picker comes up (or something like that) 32 minutes ago, lilyoyo1 said: ) this is already possible. Envirogreen Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 just used the ctrl click approach for adding devices to a scene...the #2 suggestion is no longer needed given this...can't believe I missed this !

I like this idea but programs is probably the best way due to the different ways devices handle scenes. Take insteon for example. Scenes are saved locally to the devices themselves so the embedded scene would become your defacto scene. Zwave with their associations can potentially have issues as well (especially due to routing). Just wonder if this would cause undesirable outcomes overall vs using programs to activate the individual scenes. 1 hour ago, Envirogreen said: Should be able to right click on a scene and see Add devices to the scene...with that a device picker comes up (or something like that) I like this. I'll typically right click on the device to add it to my scenes but if I'm already on the scene, this owould make things easier. 1 hour ago, Envirogreen said: just used the ctrl click approach for adding devices to a scene...the #2 suggestion is no longer needed given this...can't believe I missed this ! Also, if you add your responders first and configure them, your controllers will automatically add them pre-configured. This way, you don't have to configure the scene and controller. 1 hour ago, Envirogreen said: the things you learn! thank you You're welcome. My pleasure
