vbPhil Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Can HA set Insteon device parameters like the On and Ramp values? I was looking at the Insteon Integration and didn't come away really knowing how it works. Does it need the Insteon Hub or can it communicate directly with a PLM or is it Cloud based?
MrBill Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) Using HA with an ISY you want the Universal Devices ISY994 integration which will bring all your ISY Insteon device into HA. That will communicate from HA to ISY to your PLM. The HA Insteon integration should NOT be installed when using this method. (If using the Insteon integration, an Insteon hub or PLM, it supports both, would be connected directly to your HA device.) In the current general release of the ISY994 integration the On and Ramp values can not be set from HA, however @shbatmis currently re-written the interface (as being discussed in a couple of other threads currently near the top of the HA section of this forum.) As the changes and re-writes he's now making release (some as early as HA's February release) then yes you will be able to adjust on-values, ramp rate, backlight, beep, etc from the confines of HA via your ISY. Final note: the name of the HA integration for Universal Devices will include "ISY994" for likely a long time to come, the same integration works with Polisy and eisy tho.
