Question about devices

I have six overhead fixtures in my theater and want to control them in three pairs, so I would use three devices. I plan on installing the devices in the attic above the theater. I thought I would just get three Inlinelincs but they are the same price as Switchlinc dimmer's and the dimmers can handle twice the wattage as the Inlinelincs.

Is there a reason why I shouldn't use the dimmers instead of the inline units?

Just one thing to remember. If you mount the SwitrchLinc Dimmers next to each other in a switch box. Each one has to have its maximum wattage rating lowered by 200 watts.

I didn't know that! Is that because of heat?

But other than that, I can't see any reason why I would use an Inlinelinc over a Switchlinc dimmer.

Yes from what I have read it is accumulated heat.

If there is a relay type or regular switch between them. The reducing the wattage is not needed.

The InLineLinc maybe lower as most times it is not screwed to an electrical box. That could absorb some of the heat.

I don't know if there is any electrical code related to switches in a ceiling.

You will probably be better to use the switch. It is easier to access the Set button and you can pull the Set button if you need to reset the switch. The InlineLinc needs to have power removed and restored to reset it.
