philgood
I just installed 4 new Z-Wave dimmer outlets/repeaters and was wanting to be sure that they were all talking with the rest of the Z-Wave network, so thinking that I wanted to synchronize all the new devices I selected Synchronize - New and Deleted with Interview. To my surprise I started getting 20 new Dimmer Switches added to the network. First, what should I have done to verify that the new devices were fully incorporated into the network? Second, where did all these Dimmer Switches come from and what do I do with them now that they have been added to the network? I don't have any idea where or what they are I wish I could read something that explains the intended use of many of the IoX functions. When I look up Synchronize New and Deleted with Interview in the documentation all I find is "Synchronizes devices that either do not exist in the ISY yet, or, exist in the ISY but no longer exist in the Z-Wave network.", which doesn't explain why you would want to do that. Thanks for your help. Link to comment
Mecheng70
Do you have a screen shot? Sometimes they are added, zwave tends to have child nodes. If you right click and group them, they are easier to visualize. As for the function, some are a mystery. Link to comment
oberkc
Do these newly-added devices have an identifier (such as zyxxx) as part of he name? Is this identifier the same across multiple devices? If you right+click one of he devices, do you have a “group” option? Edited February 17, 2023 by oberkc Link to comment
firstone
Synchronize should create IoX nodes for devices that are in zwave controller (which is kind of independent from IoX). Those could be devices that were added but failed to interview and/or create IoX nodes. Those could be devices that you've removed from IoX without properly removing them from zwave controller in the past. Synchronize with Interview means that same as above, except Interview attempt is done for those devices. If they're added "with Interview" that likely means interview is done and those are valid nodes of actively responding device, rather than some stale old devices. Link to comment

philgood
So rather than just bury them in a folder, isn't there a way to actually delete them? Can you not get access to the Z-Wave table or database with all the associations are stored? I agree #mmb, I really miss the days of having the hex address of the device be printed right on the packaging. Link to comment
