jkraus Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 OK so maybe I have too much time on my hands But I usually do not observe my ISY since it is behind a cabinet door, but lately I notice every few minutes I get a short 2 sec or so Mem and error LEDs on, despite my ISY working flawlessly. Is this a sign of an issue (paranoid because my other ISY, before Michel was kind enough to repelce, started out have the red light on after reboot and eventually went south on me.) Thx Joe
Michel Kohanim Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hi Joe, Is it really every few minutes? If it happens up to 10 times a day, I wouldn't worry about it at all. If it really happens every few minutes and continuously then there's surely something very wrong. With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Well...I really do not know, just seems like many times whne I open the door to the cabinet it goes off shorlyt afterwords, but I am sure every few minites is an exaggeration.
Michel Kohanim Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hi Joe, MEM/Error blinking means any one of the following: 1. ISY could not renew its DHCP lease ... this can happen a lot with some routers and there's no reason to worry about it since a) ISY retries 5 times and if there were issues, you would not be able to access the Admin Console 2. ISY does not sense being connected to the router ... this does not happen often at all ... if it did, you wouldn't be able to access the Admin Console 3. ISY sensed a conflict of IP address with another device ... this SHOULD not happen ... if it did, not only you would not be able to access the Admin Console but also the other device would be inoperable So, in all likelihood the problem is #1 and I would not worry about it at all UNLESS you have network communication issues with your ISY. With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 great, thanks. Yes it did seem coincidnetal with unplugging or plugging in ethernet connection to other device on the same Enet switch, though it was just a coincidence but probably not
jkraus Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 well came home from vacation and none of my timed lights were on. Could not communicate with the ISY even though only green power lite was on as is usual. Rebooted thevISY and All is good gain. Is this reallated?
Michel Kohanim Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi jkraus, That is horrible ... I do not think it's related because ISY could not communicate with your INSTEON devices. Can you check the log entries for the day before you came back? If you have many -2s, then we have to figure out what's causing the PLM not to communicate with your INSTEON devices. If you do not have many -2s, then I would like to know the last 30 entries before the last Start record (which is when you rebooted your ISY). With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 I do not know what you mean. I go to the log menu and it asks it fi wan to see it excel and when it opens nothing is there I do not know what -2S are and I do not know how to give you"know the last 30 entries before the last Start record (which is when you rebooted your ISY). "

Michel Kohanim Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi jkraus, It seems that ISY went offline at 9:38 PM on 3/27. Since I do not see anything between that time and the time you rebooted and since you noted that the power LED was on, I have no choice but to assume a system crash or an infinite loop. Can you tell me which programs turn on/off the Birch Tree? With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 just a program called Birtchtree off If On Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu Time is Sunset + 1 hour Or On Sat, Fri Time is 11:25:00PM Then Repeat 2 times Set 'Birch Tree Outlet' Off Wait 2 seconds Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
Michel Kohanim Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi jkraus, The power LED was on when you got home, correct? Do you or have you ever had IRLinc TX installed? Beyond that, I am afraid that we have had a system crash which is most probably hardware related. With kind regards, Michel
jkraus Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Hi jkraus, The power LED was on when you got home, correct? Do you or have you ever had IRLinc TX installed? Beyond that, I am afraid that we have had a system crash which is most probably hardware related. Yes Power LED light was on, no IR linc. I checked the ethernet connection, then powercycled the unit and it all started working well again. I said I was on vacation but my daughter was staying here. I will see her tonight to aks if there was anything unususal like a power failure, but other than that she is not knowledgable of the system so I am sure she was not making any tweaks
jkraus Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 outside of thet should I look for any other symptoms or just wait to see if it does it again? All working OK today so far
Michel Kohanim Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi jkraus, Even if you had a power failure and if ISY had started up again, then you would see everything in the log. The only case would be that ISY was completely powered off. This has nothing to do with network connection. Please do keep an eye for a few days ... if you don't mind, please have the Birch light program run more often. With kind regards, Michel outside of thet should I look for any other symptoms or just wait to see if it does it again? All working OK today so far
