mbski
Does anyone use a dimmer for ceiling fan speed control? If not please explain Thanx Mike B. Link to comment
oberkc
I don't, because I don't like the hum that comes from using dimmers. Link to comment
mbski
What would you recommend? I'm not liking that hum either! Thnx Mike B. Link to comment
Brian H
Fan motors are inductive and should not be controlled by a dimmer. Both the switch and the fan could be damaged. A SwitchLinc Relay, that does not dim, is what should be used and no speed control is done. http://wiki.smarthome.com/index.php?tit ... Rev_5.0%29 Read the caution part of the full users manual. Mark Sanctuary
What I dislike is that I have two fans that do not have the speed control selector chains on the fan. If I did not use some kind of speed control I would be stuck with turbo speed only. So right now my fans NOT on my home automaton network, bummer I was shooting for 100% automation. Link to comment
