DualBandAid
I've been experimenting, going through the forums, etc...but I cannot seem to get a single node to work. What am I missing? I downloaded Hue and Somfy from the node store and...then what? All the things I'm reading assume a level of I don't have. I wrote this post back in the day: Can someone just give a little hint to this grandpa on how to do it now? (p.s. not a grandpa, but I have high hopes one day) Link to comment
Goose66
Not a lot to go on from "can't get a single node to work" so here's my generic suggestions: 1. Pick one of the node servers and concentrate on it. For example, let's look at the Hue PG3 Node Server. 2. Read fully the "More Information" in the Node Server Store, the Configuration information on the Configuration page in the Dashboard, and the release notes in the forum for the Hue PG3 Node Server. There may be a lot of information there about what your setup needs to look like as well as step-by-step instructions to install and configure the node server. 3. Once you've tried all that, post a new topic in the Hue PG3 Node Server forum with a detailed message of the symptoms you are getting that make it "not work." 2 Link to comment
DualBandAid
Thank you! Exactly what I needed. One problem though - and it’s why I posted to begin with… I did click the “more information” on the node server store before I posted (for Hue). But it just seemed to take me to some generalized Hue Developer site. Am I missing something? Edited October 26, 2023 by DualBandAid Link to comment

I've mentioned it to others, but the developer hasn't updated the node server so the link hasn't been corrected. The link should go to this page: https://github.com/exking/udi-hue-pg3/blob/master/README.md Or here https://github.com/exking/udi-hue-pg3/blob/master/POLYGLOT_CONFIG.md 15 hours ago, DualBandAid said: I downloaded Hue and Somfy from the node store For the Somfy one it links correctly - https://github.com/UniversalDevicesInc-PG3/udi-somfy-poly/blob/master/README.md You need to make sure you have the required Somfy devices to work with that node server. Otherwise, I think some have said network resources still work with Somfy like they did with the ISY994. I have Somfy shades, but not the correct devices to get the node server to work and I haven't taken the time to learn how to connect them with network resources since it's not so critical for me to automate them further than they already are with their (crappy) MyLink system. DualBandAid
Thank you. I followed the Hue link. Got to this part: Quote Make sure that you have a zip executable on the system, install using your OS package manager if necessarily. You can install NodeServer from the Polyglot store or manually running I'm not sure if there are three instructions in here or just one that you can do differnet ways. Do I have to install some zip executable (where? how? wha?!) AND THEN install a NodeServer from the Polyglot store? Or...manually huh?! Haha. And then this: Quote Once installed - push the button on the Hue Bridge and add NodeServer into Polyglot, that will allow it to pair with the Bridge Push the button on the Hue Bridge. That part is easy. But add NodeServer into Polyglot? I think if I knew how to do that I wouldn't need these instructions. Also, fwiw, when I select Polyglot, I get this: Link to comment

You should take some time to read the Wiki about the "eisy Dashboard" to learn the steps to install plugins (formerly Node Servers). https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Eisy:User_Guide#eisy_(PG3)_Dashboard Some of the "older" node servers plugins haven't updated to the latest "install" notes for PG3x since they haven't been updated recently. PG3x handles all the install process. Once installed 35 minutes ago, DualBandAid said: Also, fwiw, when I select Polyglot, I get this: That's normal. Looks like you might be on macOS. Click on "Show Details" and there should be a proceed/continue type of option. You should get to the PG3x login page: Login with your admin console user/pass Then you'll want to click on "Plugin Store" Once you're on the store page just look for the Hue plugin there. Follow the steps on the PG3x interface and Plugin Store to install. Then refer back to the link above for the Hue plugin for setup. It's fairly simple, it will start and then push the button on the hub and it should connect and add nodes. REMEMBER: Do NOT have Admin Console open at the same time that you add/install/update plugins. Admin Console must be reloaded to update any nodes added. Link to comment
DualBandAid
Alright, I got the Hue up and running. Thank you! Now on to Somfy Shades. Well, actually NeoSmart shades...with a Somfy motor? This one might be a little more difficult. Edited November 4, 2023 by DualBandAid 1 Link to comment
