JRobbins Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Searching interweb and forum.. How can the PLM either be sked for a recurring reboot or off/on an insteon outlet in 1 step? I have an older PLM, but it seems that it needs intermittent power off/on to keep comms healthy.. TIA, Jon
Solution paulbates Posted December 1, 2023 Solution Posted December 1, 2023 The combination of older PLM and flaky behavior says it's time to get a new PLM and handle the swap on your terms, not when things get a lot worse and it stops working. 3
Brian H Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Having to cycle the power to make thing temporarily better. Is one of the signs that the PLM is on its way out. I too recommend a new PLM. 1
JRobbins Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 I get it, and will do, however even in the event it just necessary sometimes to recover from an unexpected situation, shouldn't it be possible to issue a remote and controlled reboot?
Geddy Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 @JRobbins probably not because that's not a "normal" issue to experience and need to overcome. If a PLM is working correctly then there's no need/reason to randomly reboot it. I've read tons of posts about unplugging the PLM and making sure you unplug/reboot the ISY (old models 99 and 994) and power them back up after the PLM has stabilized. If you're forcing the PLM to reboot it's possible it could put the IoX system into safe mode and it wouldn't know to recover once the PLM was stable again. Your issue is probably something better suited to ask UDI directly. You can refer to their website for "contact us" and send an email to ask them directly. 2
