Understanding Factory Reset

My 2 month old eisy 5.7.1 system has been working flawlessly since the conversion from a I994 2 months ago. It sits directly next to my router which was an Asus and now is a TP-Link Deco X75E. After the router change the behavior of the eisy was erratic, Z Matter Dongle was not responding and some, not all insteon devices were not working.  For the sake of brevity, I will not list all the odd behavior.  A restart did not help. Unplugging Zmatter did not help but a eisy power disconnect/connect  brought back the Zmatter module. Same Insteon devices were still not working.

I decided to do a factory reset and after a few attempts was puzzled to see my program and devices still in iox when I logged on. The password was reset to default. Is this correct? Should it not be an empty shell until I restore the backup?

There is a lot more I could add here but while the system did not start to work properly immediately after a restore, it did start work properly after another couple of attempts at factory reset both from off and on modes of the eisy.  However, these resets never seemed to occur as password did not revert to default.

I am relieved to have a perfectly working system once again but have no understanding what happened. Is there a long delay after a restore for it take effect?

I enjoy puzzles but this one is beyond me.

The router should have nothing to do with the Zmatter dongle or Insteon devices.

It's probably best to move the EISY away from the router in order to avoid RF interference.

You should also not plug your PLM into an outlket that servicing other electronics as electricial devices can interfere with the PLM Insteon signals.

It was most likely not necessary to factory reset you EISY as the problem appears to be some type of interference and not the eisy itself.

You should also do an update packages on the EISY as there was an update to fix a few bugs.  After the update your EISY firmware will still shop as 5.7.1.

Thank you for your response.

I am not all that sure I did a factory reset as all devices and programming were still seen in iox. The password returning to default was the only apparent result.

The system is now working perfectly since its mysterious "recovery" this morning. Should any further strangeness occur I will separate the eisy and PLM to its own corner.

I will do the upgrade as you suggest.
