I have a 4 zone hot water heat system that uses the 4 wire Taco flow control valves.  2 wires operate the motor, the other 2 are for the valve open contacts.  I assume the contacts are at 24vac when they are open.  When valve closes the contacts close and turn off the motor.

I want to monitor the position of each of the four valves.  Could I use the low voltage interface GND and Sensor input connected to the Taco switch contacts without affecting the Valve operation?

Comments on this method or other ideas appreciated.

Regards,

No, the Insteon 2450 io module won't handle 24vac directly. However you can add a sensor that will turn 24vac to dry contacts. Functional Devices makes sensors of this type.

Grainger sells them, I got a different Functional Devices sensor for another 2450 application to monitor my sump pump, and was connected quickly to a specialist that talked me through it and ordered the right one.
