NYHeel Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I noticed that my light switches weren’t working with Alexa or Google and I just looked and my ISY994 isn’t showing any power. There are no lights on at all. Also the light on the adapter is off as well. I assume it’s likely an adapter power supply issue. The only cause I can think of is that our home power went out for about 60 seconds a few days ago. I wonder if that fried the adapter. Is there a specific kind of replacement adapter I should get? The current one appears to be 5V 0.5A (that’s what I assume 500mA means). Does anything that level or higher work? Just want to get something relatively soon. Lastly, on the off chance that it’s not the power is there an inexpensive replacement for the 994? I’m just looking for simple scheduling and controls of Insteon switches. Quote
paulbates Posted July 31 Posted July 31 If you have a voltmeter, the quick proof would be measuring the output of the power supply. The other evidence is the power supply light out and a related power event. https://www.amazon.com/Digipartspower-Adapter-Universal-Devices-Universal-ISY-994i/dp/B08YXMWL42 The only alternative to the ISY I'm aware of for Insteon is Insteon's own hub. It will be matching the definition of simple to its capabilities, you could ask questions on the Insteon forums about that. Quote
Techman Posted July 31 Posted July 31 (edited) @NYHeel You should use a 12 volt, 1 or 2 amp power supply. They're out of stock at the UD Store. Amazon should have them Edited July 31 by Techman Quote
Brian H Posted July 31 Posted July 31 (edited) ISY994i has a wide DC input range. Many here use 12V 1 or 2 amp. Been awhile but last time I looked. UDI was selling 12V 2A units for the ISY994i https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/31558-isy-994-power-supply-question-regarding-voltage/ Edited July 31 by Brian H Quote
Brian H Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Power supply was one of the frequently reported issues with an ISY994i and older ISY99i. My original was a 5V 500mA and it failed similar to what you where seeing. After an AC outage and restore. The LED's sarted to flash as it tried to boot and then reset due to low voltage. Quote

Brian H Posted August 1 Posted August 1 If you have all the features you want or need and a new supply puts you back in business then an upgraded ISY device is not need. Though new features are nice. I don't need and use any of the new features. So my ISY994i will be all I need and use. Besides I even have a backup ISY994i. Quote
