TomNow2 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 (edited) Hello all, Hoping to gather some feedback from people who have been successful with different brands of Zwave dimmers. I am currently using Zooz and the issue I am having is that if I press the non-controller to dim my lights, there's a slight delay, maybe as much a s second before the light actually dims. So much so that it's basically pointless to do it from any other switch than the controller itself, which is not wife-approved. I'm hoping there are other brands out there that are more efficient and 'sync' quicker than these Zooz. These would be dimmers and not just the on-off switches which a delay doesn't matter too much. Thank you Edited October 28 by TomNow2 1 Quote
kzboray Posted October 28 Posted October 28 @TomNow2 Over the years I've tried many different technologies for lighting control and none do a better job than Insteon. They natively support scenes which is a big deal when compared to Z-wave. Also UD fully supports Insteon natively as well. Since you're looking to buy something new anyway I'd encourage you to try Insteon. Like most products today Insteon works better with sufficient density and is more sensitive to line noise than I like, but otherwise it's a good lighting solution. I do not work with nor am I affiliated with Insteon. This is my opinion only. 1 Quote
TomNow2 Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Thanks for the reply! I agree that Insteon is one of the best. For my main house I'm using an Eisy with Insteon throughout. We built a summer home and I put Zooz throughout that is now causing me these issues. I'd like to keep the Zwave infrastructure and am wondering if there are known brands people have used in virtual configurations with dimmer switches that I could try. If I was doing it all again I'd pick Insteon again, but that's hindsight. Quote

In addition to automation duties, I added some i3 paddles this year to replace some 24 year old Lutron dimmers that were at end-of-life.... plus the halo of Alexa voice control. They all match, look good and work great for dimmer control across circuits. Edited October 28 by paulbates Quote

At a second house, I use SMartthings and meross or kata wifi.. not ideal, but meets my needs just fine for that house. (aeotec has a smartthings hub that includes zigbee and zwave with very broad integration capabilities, but far less programming control) Quote

I’ve posted this question there with all the troubleshooting everything is set as it should be so now I think it’s a Zoom brand issue. 1 Quote

Thank you You can try Inovelli or ge enbrighten switches/dimmers. They work with companion switches that replace your current zwave devices for direct control. Zooz does support direct association but that's an extremely poor substitution. Edited October 30 by lilyoyo1 Quote

My thoughts exactly, I purchased 3 Inovelli switches today to try next time I’m at the cottage. Quote
