EzFlora Replacement

Featured Replies

Posted

I just had my EzFlora of many years die on me, it won't link anymore, I opened it up and didn't see any obviously burned components etc.

It looks like the device isn't made anymore, and I'm not finding anything on ebay. I see several polyglot servers. What do people recommend?  I need 8 zones, but would love to repair this if possible but not sure how to.  Comfortable with soldering if there is a known 'replace this cap' issue with these.  The board internally says Insteon Rev: A0    and the daughter board says EZRain PLM

Thanks

I migrated years ago from 2 easyfloras to a rainmachine.  The software I used was io_guy's nodelink which doesn't fit in the pg3x model. However, 2 things:

  • There is a pg3x plugin for easyflora in the production store from another developer
  • The rainmachine is extremely capable including internet weather. It does just about everything on its own. I used the plugin to run one "hot zones" program based on outside temp and also create notifications when things ran.

I've since sold that house... I think rainmachine changed the remote access model to subscription. You'll want to look at that before deciding to go this route.

I recapped every capacitor and brought two of them back to life. This included the daughter card capacitors.

None of the capacitors had ruptured and were not even swollen.

Ok I'm pretty sure it was a power event, I had a few other non-insteon devices around the house give up the ghost, was disappointed it was that one though because it's not available anymore.

Through hole I'm comfortable with, surface mounts not so much.  I guess I have nothing to lose.
