onetrack97 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Windows 10 I deleted Java cache and apps. Reran Start.jnlp. Tried without VPN. Tried with Ethernet and WiFi. IoX Launcher loads and sees the EISY. I can run from the cloud or via local network. App shows up in the task bar but freezes. It will only clear via Task Manager. UD Mobile works fine. I tried rebooting the EISY, no change. The only thing that changed since it worked last is that I physically relocated my computer to a different part of the house and am using different monitors. What can I try next? Thanks, Scott Quote
Techman Posted January 10 Posted January 10 When you cleared your java cache did you check all 3 boxes What is your EISY firmware and UI versions (in Help about) VPN should be off Is your EISY and Computer on the same network You mention that you can run the admin console from the local network, what are you trying to connect from that's giving you a problem?? Yes, all three boxes that includes apps. UD Mobile reports 5.8.4 I can’t run the PC app to see the version. Everything is running on the same network. I did switch my PC to WiFi but no change. I can’t run the Admin Console, just the IoX launcher. Tried from cloud and from local network. So, Windows PC, no. UD Mobile via WiFi iPad works. Quote
Techman Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Do you see your EISY in your router Is DHCP enabled in your router If you have a firewall, try disabling it. You can also try removing power from your eisy for 15 seconds the boot it up Try rebooting your router. Post a screenshot after you run the IoX Launcher Quote

onetrack97 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Yes, I see EISY in router. IoX Launcher sees the EISY also. I have a Netgate Router/Firewall running pFSense; All WiFi "routers" are configured as Access Points, no DHCP running. Computer is on Ethernet so not a factor. I'm running unmanaged switches, in this case I'm going through two switches. I thought this might be a problem based upon other postings so that's why I tried via WiFi but no difference. I removed power from EISY for a minute and repowered. I removed power from the Netgate and Netgear unmanaged switch, and restored. I did download my Start.jnlp from Universal Devices. VPN is disconnected. UD Mobile is working fine on my iPad. Still no change. I can physically move the computer back today if no other ideas come to mind. See attached screen clips. Quote
Solution onetrack97 Posted January 10 Author Solution Posted January 10 OK, I have it running. My configuration in my Home Theater is that I'm using my AVR --> LG TV as the second monitor, allowing me to run REW, etc. I shut down the AV system, reran IoX launcher and the Admin Console app runs. It came up in the 2nd monitor space which I couldn't see so I moved it over to the main monitor. I guess this is a Windows issue, does this make sense to anyone? Thanks for the troubleshooting ideas. 1 Quote
paulbates Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Do you think the iox console was popping up on that second monitor all along. Not 100% sure from the posts if freezing means you could see it, but it wouldn't respond... or you never saw it. Quote
Techman Posted January 10 Posted January 10 In addition to what @paulbates suggested, it's possible that your AV System is creating issues, you might want to put a powerline filter on it. Quote
DennisC Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Whenever you move back and forth between two monitors and one monitor, there is a display issue. You need to delete some files in between the move between monitors. The directions are in the wiki: Admin Console Minimized/Invisible and Cannot be Restored This is usually related Admin Console state files not being updated properly and especially in case of multi monitors. All you need to do is to find the following files in Java temp directory (on Windows: c:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Temp) and delete them. Or, you can simply search the computer for udi_*.state or ud_*.state file patterns: ud_finder.state udi_finder.state udi_frame.state udi_launcher.state udi_pgm.state udi_tree.state 1 Quote

That’s what I thought but it never showed up and wouldn’t allow me to move it with the windows key. Plus, the IoX window was locked up. Perhaps the app or Java didn’t like the screen resolution or other features of the AVR-TV? Quote

I’ve done this move before but perhaps I was just lucky. Wouldn’t the clearing of the Java temp files have taken care of that? Quote

Wouldn’t the clearing of the Java temp files have taken care of that? I don't think so, I think these files are UD default files - similar to "cookies". They seem to remember the setup. They will recreate themselves the next time you run the admin console after being deleted. 1 Quote
