Is there an easy way to replace a 6 keypad with an I3 keypad

Typically, when using EISY and I’m replacing an Insta device, I could just do a replacement and not have to reprogram everything.

I would like to replace my 6 key keypad with the four key I three. Only using four of the buttons on the six key keypad.  One of the things I love about EISY is that is easy to replace a switch without having to go back in and change all the programs.

while I know it doesn’t look like a direct replacement. Is there any way to do this easily using EISY?

If you add the new switch as a temporary device, and you don't see it in the list when you select your old one and do "replace with", then you're out of luck. Eisy won't make it easy. You'll have to go over the scenes and programs involved and manually adjust everything.

Interestingly, I had started a discussion about device replacement just 2 days ago:

@richtimpa Actually, there is an easy way to work through programs with the "find / Replace" command.

Add your new switch with a temporary name.

Go to your programs and do a Find for the original name, replace with the new device temp name.

This will replace it in all the programs. You may have to do a second Find, but w/o replace and look at the result of each to make sure the settings are right. An easy way to do that is to  first do a copy to clipboard on the top level of your programs and paste the result into a word editor. Then you can easily go back and see the original program side by side as you check each program with the new device.

Once complete, delete the original device and then rename the new device to your original name.

Scenes need to be done manually unfortunately

Well, similarly for scenes, you can look at the old device's "membership" list on the right side of the screen, telling you what it is a responder and/or a controller for. For keypadlincs, each button has it's own list, for added fun...

But it's still a manual process.
