It's a simple scene. I have KPL button H triggering the lights in a hutchScreenshot2025-03-11at6_40_06AM.png.bd292c96d2bc9043e819fdfaef311ee1.png

I have the button as a controller and as a responder

I assumed when the light is on (triggered from another scene) the LED should be on but it isnt.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong

I've found that sometimes I have to rebuild a scene; remove the responder(s) and rebuild.. even with new Insteon products. i had a lamp module for Christmas lights in a bedroom at the far end of the house and spent time trying to resolve traffic issues, when doing the above solved it right away.

If that doesn't do it, factory reset it and restore device

Not sure if it has changed but we have seen brand new directly from Insteon modules. Having factory test links in them and a factory reset was need. Many here actually factory reset all our new modules before using them.

I tried the remove and replace and no luck. When I get back I'll a Factory reset and restore device and post back with the results.

Thanks

If the light is triggered from another scene it won't work. You would need to add your KPL H button as a responder to that other scene.

That would be the piece I’m missing.
I’ll try that and post back.

I think Guy Lavoie gets the prize!  The only thing that would cause the keypad button to come on (besides directly pressing it) is when the hutch scene is turned on.  No other scenes will cause it to come on and no other devices will cause it to come on.

Great, glad it helped!

You really gotta view the KPL buttons as miniature Insteon switches, and their backlights as loads switched by them, or by scenes they are responders to, just like regular Insteon switches.

Being a bit of a status tracking nut, I have many scenes that I call "reverse" scenes that exist just for the purpose of updating a KPL backlight for a button. Any other thing that might activate a switch(es) controlled by a KPL button gets added as a controller to the reverse scene, to keep the button's backlight up to date.
