SHibbard Posted Friday at 10:35 PM Posted Friday at 10:35 PM Bought my Polisy in 2022, and got it with the Zooz Z-Wave 700 Series USB Stick. Until now just used the Polisy for Insteon, never plugged in the Z-Wave stick. Now trying to use Z-Wave. The Zooz stick is not being recognized in either USB port. With all the work being done for ZMatter, before I dig too deep I'm wondering if the Zooz stick is still supported in current SW? I'm currently running IoX v5.9.1, and I have not migrated to ZMatter Z-Wave, as it looks like that only supports the UD Dongle. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Friday at 11:03 PM Posted Friday at 11:03 PM (edited) I have the Zooz 700 stick on my eisy, running 5.9.1. Works fine. If your config screen is showing a check box to enable Zigbee, then you need to "roll back" the Zwave configuration from Zmatter in order to use the Zooz stick. Techman Posted Friday at 11:04 PM Posted Friday at 11:04 PM What is your Polisy firmware and UI version? The current version is 5.9.1 What Zwave version module do you have on your ISY, 300 or 500 series? Make sure that Zwave is enabled in your configuration window (see screenshot) I believe the Zooz stick should work but you won't have the Zwave backup option, and you probably won't be able to migrate your existing zwave network to the Zooz stick. Guy Lavoie Posted Friday at 11:18 PM Posted Friday at 11:18 PM Oops, I made a mistake in my post above. If you see an option button for "Migrate to ZMatter Z-wave" in the config screen like the one below, then you're set up to use the Zooz stick. If your config screen looks like the one in Techman's post, then you're set up to use the ZMatter dongle. If you are indeed set up for ZMatter and want to change it back for Zooz, then do this: From a browser, go to the following URL: http://<your_IP_address>:8080/rest/zmatter/zwave/deactivateZMatterZWave 1 Quote

The Z-Wave module is 21100. Z-Wave is enabled in Configuration. Tried disabling rebooting, re-enabling, rebooting, no improvement. I'm just starting with Z-Wave, so I won't have to worry about backing up / restoring. Just adding some smart locks. Quote

I didn't hit the Migrate button, since it appeared to be only for the UD module. My Config Screen is below. Looking in Logs, it never finds the stick. The fact that it says it started ZMatter-ZWave has me wondering if it is looking for the module and not the stick. Guy Lavoie Posted Saturday at 12:02 AM Posted Saturday at 12:02 AM And you're certain your Zooz stick is a 700 series? Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Saturday at 12:31 AM Posted Saturday at 12:31 AM Also, you mention getting it in 2022 at the time when you got the Polisy. There is a thread in this forum section about an update from Zooz for that stick. Maybe that could make a difference. Quote

I had an 800 around that I tried first. When it didn't work I figured ISY didn't support the 800, so yanked it and pulled the 700 that came with the Polisy out of it's box. 1 hour ago, Guy Lavoie said: Also, you mention getting it in 2022 at the time when you got the Polisy. Hmm, I thought I saw something about NOT updating FW in the Zooz, but not recommending it. Thanks, I'll dig! Edited Saturday at 01:37 AM by SHibbard Quote
SHibbard Posted Saturday at 08:24 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:24 PM (edited) Case closed. First, the 700 stick is FW 7.17. I did not update it to 7.18 based on the message below (and I agree with him, Simplicity Studio is a PITA). Instead did a factory reset of the Polisy. Then it discovered the stick. Should make that a first task with any problems! Interesting observation: each time I did a factory reset with front button, the system hung forever (SSH access, but Iox not up). found every second that the following was being added to /var/udx/logs/log Sat Mar 22 09:15:35 CDT 2025|/usr/local/etc/udx.d/static/udxops_main.sh: trying to flush context again ... Got back to normal after forcing a shutdown via SSH once I saw those log entries. Edited Saturday at 08:25 PM by SHibbard 1 Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Saturday at 08:31 PM Posted Saturday at 08:31 PM Nice, though doing a factory reset on a in-use controller is never fun. Welcome to Z-wave! 1 Quote
SHibbard Posted Saturday at 08:33 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:33 PM Nope it's not, but now I know when doing a factory reset that instead of waiting an hour, I can just monitor that log file... Quote
