Posted May 26May 26 Please forgive a probably simple yet stupid question, (I am known for them), as I try hard not to have any issues in doing things to my eISY and home setups. This morning I was replacing a bulb in my aged dining room 'chandelier' and in screwing in the bulb there was a pop and my Insteon 6 button dimmer part of the Keypad fried. In all probability just the SCR and associated circuitry, as the keypad stayed lit and it did not pop my circuit breaker. All the other buttons still do thier job except for ON and Off. It appears that in screwing in the bulb, as over the last 40 years, the socket base must have loosened and in screwing the bulb in the wires crossed. Ugh. In reading up on using Replace within eISY, it stated to remove the device from any folder it belongs in. Just so I fully understand; I have the device and buttons in several scenes within the Scenes folder. By removing the keypad and associated buttons from the scenes folder, that's all I need to do. I do not delete the scenes. (First Image) Should I Ungroup the Dining Room Group? (Second Image) Lastly, if all goes to plan, will the scenes all be properly associated with the new device? May 26May 26 When you do a "replace", you normally start by adding the new device, as a standalone with a temporary name. Then you bring up the device you want to replace, right click, and select "Replace <device name> with" and select the new device you just added previous. IoX will normally edit all the links, scenes, and programs to use the new device. The old device will also be automatically removed. The new device will also get renamed to the name the old one had, so nothing will look different in your programs and scenes. Edited May 26May 26 by Guy Lavoie
May 26May 26 Solution @johnjces If the keypad itself is located in a subfolder in your device tree you'll need to move it out of the subfolder. No need to touch any of your scenes. Sounds like the triac in the KPL got fried. Be sure to fix the light socket before you replace the KPL. After the replacement do a EISY backup
