I bought another ISY 994I to see if it was the 994i IR pro that was causing me some issues after years of perfection.  The new one has Zwave.  It is 4.6.2 firmware.  any chance of getting 5.3.4 and buying another X-10 module?

If it doesn't already have the X10 module, you can't add it anymore. If you want to stick to a ISY994i, you'll need to find a used one that already has any modules you want.

Depending on the ZWave module installed. You maybe limited to firmware revision you can install. No personal information but you maybe able to remove it and install the last firmware released for the ISY994i

The X10 module is gone as Guy pointed out. I got lucky. When the ISY994i was announced being discontinued but still available. I bought the X10 and Pro updates for my spare basic ISY994i.

Didn't all the 994is have basic x10 capability? I think the module added the ability for

  • extended x10 codes
  • naming nodes versus HC/UC

Depending on what features you're using, it could work with potentially some basic programming changes. Plug in the backup unit and see how it would work for you programming wise as well as test to see if perfection returns

Yes they do basic X10 without the A10/X10 module added. I have it but never used it. As the added goodies where not needed or used. Thank  you for jogging my memory.

Yes, the X10 module was mostly a convenience, allowing you to add X10 devices to your device list. It would still be handy to a user who is looking to replace a defective unit and recover from a backup, without needing to edit all the programs.
