November 3Nov 3 Hello.Today I've noticed event viewer being flooded with messages :Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:34 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:38 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:38 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:39 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:40 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:42 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:43 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:44 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:47 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:49 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)Mon 11/03/2025 11:41:50 AM : [ X10] J/Status Request (10)I have narrowed it down to to communication with 2477S Dual Band SwitchLinc.The messages only show up when switch is set to OFF.Would that indicate problem with PLM or the switch?I do have sporadic communication errors with other Insteon devices. November 3Nov 3 It's possible the link tables in the switch got corrupted. Try doing a factory reset on the switch, then a restore deviceBeing that you have comm issues, they could be caused by noise on the powerline, a poor insteon mesh network, or a defective device. Do you have X10 devices currently installedHow many Insteon devices do you have installedIn HELP | ABOUT, what is your firmware and UI versions
November 3Nov 3 Author @Techman I do not have any x10 devices.I have 37 Insteon dual band devices ( not counting battery ones). My Eisy is on v6.0.0 same with UI.This X10 message only show when switch is turned either with off command or turned off by a scene ( motion sensor ).Reset and restore didn't help.Link tables match. When I disable switch in AC and operate switch locally (physically pressing on-off) message doesn't show up.
November 3Nov 3 Take a look at this link. Being that you don't have any X10 devices and the fact that you have comm issues I would think that you have some type of noise on your powerline. Do you have a UPS or other electronics installed near your PLM? Do you have any battery powered motion sensors installed?ISY flooded with X10 status requests - ISY994 - Universal Devices Forum

November 3Nov 3 Author Yes I've read the thread.Yes I have UPS on different circuit.I have multiple motion sensors.Message just appeared today. If it was a noise why today and why only after PLM sends OFF command to switch?
November 3Nov 3 It could be a combination of the off signal from the switch and noise from another device. Some things to check/try Put your UPS on a Filterlinc as they are notorious for creating powerline noise issues Check the batteries in your motion sensors, a low battery can cause insteon issues If you have any battery/phone chargers plugged in, unplug them.
November 3Nov 3 J/Status Request in X10 signaling is all ones. 11111111. It sounds like noise to me also.
November 3Nov 3 Author I don't have any Filterlinc.I'll be at this for a month For now I've disabled one switchlinc in Administrative Console =no more X10 messages.
November 4Nov 4 This is what you need for the UPS, originally it was called a FilterLincPowerline Noise Filter – InsteonIt's also possible that the SwitchLinc is defective and creating the noise, do you have another one you could replace it with? FilterLinc.pdf
November 4Nov 4 Author @Techman I'm going to order couple of FilterLincs.I have more switches, going to change it and see how it goes.Always something :( .But if it is noise why appear today? Edited November 4Nov 4 by tibbar
November 4Nov 4 Long thread... but if it only happens when the switch is off, it's pointing to the switch. Some older insteon switches have the ability to receive and send x10. Insteon switches can also be "confused" after long periods (years) of operation. I'd try this if it wasn't in all of the other great suggesitons:Turn the switch off and confirm the messages continue to comePull the air gap tab out on the bottom of the switch.. did the errors stop?If Yes.. Factory reset the switch and do a restore deviceTest again
November 4Nov 4 One more thought. If they are the original 2476S on-off relay models. They do not have an Air Gap switch and used a convoluted way to factory reset them. Easy way to tell. If pulling out the set button (Air Gap) and the module does not power off. It is a real old original design. The 2476D dimmer always had an Air Gap Switch
