I just listened to that. Nothing really new for us. Much of it is about their upcoming Hub 3. It's currently in beta testing. They're still calling it a hub and not a controller, though it is intended to allow some form of if/then/else programming. They also plan on supporting Matter, though not initially. No announcement of any other new modules or devices. The ever changing tariffs situation appears to have been a significant part of their supply issues.

I smiled when one of the questions was about whether their new hub would support migration from a ISY994. The answer was basically no, you would need to factory reset everything. The bigger question is: who would want to do that when you have the eisy? Another question about access to an API got a rather evasive answer. I'm not sure whether that was about local control or just an open API for 3rd party access.

They do mention the eisy (the ee-eye-ess-why lol) and consider UDI as partners, so that's always good to hear.

Thanks for the summary, that's appreciated.

For matter, they have the same issue that UDI has.. due to the size and complexity of matter's evolving codebase, a small army of programmers is needed to get it up on its feet. Barring that, it will take time. Google, Apple, et al... and to a certain extent HA as a community have the bodies to throw at it. Insteon started soft pedaling about the their commitment to matter about a year ago for I believer that reason.

I was looking for them to have the new PLM product in the store with 4x link table, improved operational design and (I think) a stronger powerline radio. I think the specs have been around a while. Sounds like that was not brought up

Not too sure when if ever the new PLM may show up. I second the real long time as it was originally during the Richardson ownership I beleive.

FCC: SBP22342, 2234-222 USB, 2234-223 Serial.

Yeh I know that you researched this well and pointed that out before.

I exchanged emails with Insteon a while back, curious if it would include i3 and didn't get answer to that part which I take as a "no". If it was proposed that long ago it's plausible it's design predates i3. I'd be happy with one that is updated, faster and more powerful.

It was mentioned late last year that it would be summer time (I think) this year. .... Also UDI would have to include it in iox. Since they have a wrench in that anyway right now (V6 & 7), the timing would be better than it has been for the last few years from a release perspective.

Matter support appears to be quite the challenge to implement, but it's the next, necessary move if home automation is to become more mainstream than it is now. Look at other electronic products: all TVs now support hdmi, all computers (both Windows and Mac) do 95% of what people expect of them. All phones (Android and IoS) have equivalent apps for almost everything. Time for home automation to eliminate the "is it compatible?" guesswork.

@Brian H

I sent a message to Insteon support re: the new PLM's, here's the answer I received:

"The newer PLMs are still under development. I don't have an ETA to share at this time."

Thank you for the information. It has been so long now. It could actually be a completely PLM than the one in the FCC Database. As parts used may no longer be made.
