denpri Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I just purchased an ISY-99i/IR Pro unit and, before I started programming, configuring, etc. the device, I decided to purchase/install a larger SD Card. Your User Guide (Appendix C) indicates it will support up to an 8GB card. After testing a SanDisk 8GB card on my PC and reformatting (FAT-32), I installed it in the unit. Everything is working fine but, when I open the "File System Status" window, it only shows a "capacity" of approx. 3.5GB (compared to the approx. 7.4GB formatted capacity). Obviously, I doubt I'll ever use even a fraction of 3.5GB for programs, etc. but I was wondering whether (a) I need to do something else to make the full capacity "available", ( there's a bug in the v.2.7.15 firmware or © there's a hardware/software "limitation" (e.g., FAT-only format but this would limit it to 2GB?) on the max. capacity of the SD Card? Thanks for any replies. -Dennis-
Michel Kohanim Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Hello Dennis, ISY supports up to 16GB. There was a bug in the UI reporting routine which is fixed. In any case, please: 1. Take a backup of your system 2. Telnet to ISY 3. Issue FS (formats the SD Card) ... although ISY works with both FAT 16/32, the FS function formats it specifically for use with ISY with some performance improvements Once FS is complete. you will have to go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i and then reinstall 2.7.15 and then restore your backup. With kind regards, Michel
denpri Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Michel, Performed the steps you recommended and still have the same problem (and same result in terms of card capacity). Here's the "File Status" display (All in MB): 3633 - Total 363 - Reserved 3 - Used 0 - Bad 3266 - Free As I previously stated, I DID test/format the card in a PC before installing it and there's nothing wrong with the card. Do you think the UI bug still exists in v.2.7.15? Also, a minor "nit" but whenever I issue the FIRST "File Status" request, the response is "0 MB" for all items but the second (and all subsequent) requests during the same session show "acutal" data. -Dennis-
denpri Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Michel, FYI - After posting the previous message, I again used telnet and issued both a "FS" and "FR" command. When I then issued a shell "Show Files/Directories" command, the various file folders had already been created AND, after a firmware reinstall, the "Used" amount shown via the GUI "File Status" remained 3MB without ANY configuration restore. Wondering whether it should be "0-Used" and, if Yes, whether the shell FS command is actually working. Also, the card in question is a SanDisk 8GB SDHC Class 4. -Dennis-
Michel Kohanim Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hi Dennis, Would you be kind enough to: 1. Clear your java cache 2. Go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/da ... admin.jnlp Let me know if you still have the same issue. denpri Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Hi Michel, Performed your steps and everything is still the same (i.e., identical numbers). I even used a different PC with a slightly older Java version just to make sure it isn't OS (Win 7 vs. Win XP) or Java (latest on Win 7 machine vs v.6.17 on XP machine) specific. Any other suggestions? -Dennis-
bachguy40 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 denpri, As you can see, I noticed the same thing back in February and received no replies. I will keep checking back to this thread for any positive results on your end. http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=4069

denpri Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 bachguy40, Since you experienced a virtually identical situation using firmware v.2.7.10 and we're now at v.2.7.15, I'm wondering if, per Michel's previous response to me, the "bug" he referenced still exists in the UI. It's also too bad the shell doesn't have an option to display memory stats. In any event, it's a relatively minor "nit" since I don't think I'll ever run low on memory (although you never know what UDI might offer as future enhancements!). -Dennis-
Sub-Routine Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 The shell command is SM (Show Memory) ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Advanced_Configuration_Guide#SM_.E2.80.93_Show_Memory_Utilization. There is no use for expanded memory as far as devices, scenes, and programs are concerned. The extra RAM can be used to store web pages if you have the Networking Module installed. The link Michel posted is a reference to the alpha 2.8.0 GUI. Rand
Sub-Routine Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I hope you can update the forum software Mark. I am very much lost with that and I know it will be a great improvement! Michel Kohanim Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Hi Guys, The problem is fixed based on the records but it seems that it has not gotten into 2.7.15. The problem is that ISY was using an INT which didn't have enough range to support larger capacities. If you do not mind alpha software, please do send an email to support@universal-devices.com and please try 2.8.0. With kind regards, Michel
denpri Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Michel, Happy to try the 2.8 alpha since I'm just getting used to the ISY features, etc. I'll send the E-Mail. -Dennis-
Mark Sanctuary Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Rand, I would love to help with this but it really has to be done my someone with admin on the server where the phpBB is installed... Michel Kohanim Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Hi Mark, Thanks. As you suggested, we should hire someone who does this as a profession. With kind regards, Michel
