Saturday at 08:10 PM4 days As part of trying to get all of my devices updated, I attempted to update the OS on my Polisy, but it never came back...I had logged into the isy through the portal and selected the update option. I think it said I was on 5.5.6 (or something close) and would update to 5.9.x. It told me it could take up to 30 minutes so I just let it go. Prior to the update, I could see the polisy on the IoX Launcher as well.About 45 minutes later, I went back to the portal to confirm everything went well and it said the ISY was offline. I attempted connecting through the mobile phone app and tried to find it on the IoX Launcher, but nothing showed up, I attempted to ssh into the device, but it said there was no route. I have checked my DHCP logs and after restarting the device twice (by pulling the power cord since the multifunction button doesn't appear to be doing anything) don't see the IP request ever getting to DHCP.Each time I power it on, it the device briefly shows 3 lights on the front, but quickly goes to just a single solid first light on the left. From everything I can find, that's a good sign, but nothing else seems to be able to get to it.I'm still scouring the forum and wiki, but am quickly running out of ideas. I've also sent this to support, but trying to come up with ideas to get back online...
Saturday at 08:31 PM4 days Looks like you'll need to take out the SSD and reflash it. That's what I've done. You can obtain either a new ready to go flash drive for it from UDI, or get a recovery image file and reflash it yourself. I bought an inexpensive mSata to USB adapter from amazon to do this.https://www.amazon.ca/Adapter-Portable-Transfer-Backups-Transmission/dp/B0FCC3T7XY/ref=sr_1_26?crid=J4R6E3OY4OCN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.38zq3IsIBN1-mu64sSndwPiAnCkdc2zoPE_xVqJZeY8ci7yg3pfUey05P_ypb7OZwyt_NUnyKzxta9zwa6OVLif9MVEXcXBLzMaMUlens9-_U5h9ox_g6_UU8IFFAgGMHrQ0-nujUHjAiebTNhAIk8VfLWybk5Ikc18kZtOaxAcnps5MND6mGxXNQbGNUkp98cOkMlKXeCsGXE-ziz-lieboPtWFqH953BGbCQQLd3GXimBNoLkfJ5lCgf_dzkdLJIhdNebglXK27J_z_FRfpUnkM0W9ceRn607cWbB-yBw.3EpO_kxRmJkzE0EQzQcpwYfMZrVwyJDU1fsHiLccLYU&dib_tag=se&keywords=eluteng+usb+to+msata+eluteng&qid=1768681721&sprefix=eluteng+usb+to+msata+eluteng%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-26new SSD from UDI:Universal DevicesPolisy OS SSDUpdate your Polisy to the latest OS and software effortlessly! Just swap in this upgraded internal SSD, restore your backup, and you’re all set: quick, easy, and hassle-free.
Saturday at 08:58 PM4 days Author That doesn't sound fun... And I assume that means I need a backup. The last one I have looks like it was from when I upgraded to 5.5 back in 2023.Luckily I don't think I've changed much over the last 3 years, but I'm sure there was something.

I contacted support and Michel gave me links to a USB/microSSD burner. I purchased one and a new SSD with a larger capacity, so the caching was larger and should last longer, from amazon.ca. It came the next day and had myself up and running in a few hours. It seems the polisy units were sold with a smaller SSDs that didn't last long. Now it appears UDI is selling a preconfigured SSD that just needs to be dropped into the polisy. Just be careful of the pin lineup of the security board that sits on top of it when you replace it. Even easier and faster. Edited Saturday at 09:10 PM4 days by larryllix
Sunday at 01:34 AM4 days Another thing is that the preconfigured SSD isn't available to us here in Canada (UDI doesn't ship to Canada, and their distributor here doesn't carry it) so we're grateful for the DIY option of flashing the SSD. But even if I had the choice, I'd still prefer flashing it myself. It makes any future recovery readily available. Another benefit is that once we upgrade our system and it's working well, we can then take the SSD out again and create our own recovery image file, as an ultimate backup.
Sunday at 05:56 AM3 days I had a fried SSD and had to replace it. I flashed the image that Michel gave me, but it turns out the drive only got formatted to slightly bigger than the image leaving most of the ssd unformatted and incapable of taking any further updates due to insufficient space. I had to figure out how to repartition the SSD. It wasn't terribly hard, but it was something I had no idea how to do since I had only ever worked with PC hard drives. If you need to do it, I believe I posted how I did it in the forum.EDITHere is how to do it. Sunday at 02:12 PM3 days Author Thanks. Once I hear from support and get the files/new ssd I'll see what I can do. While I wait, I just installed Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi I had sitting around. Definitely not the plan for the weekend.
