Thursday at 10:39 AM4 days For the past year+, I have been adding and using Tapo P125M Matter plugs. I currently have 10 of these devices working all of which were added through UD Mobile on an Android phone. All 10 of the devices also appear (and work) in my Google Home app. Currently I have been attempting to add another P125M, I have not added any devices in roughly 6 months. Now I am unable to get this device to fully install in my eisy. I have no Matter hub (never have). The device will add to Tapo’s app and to Google Home app (if added to the Tapo app first) but always times-out during the provisioning/commissioning process with “Error: Could not discover device: Timeout: no matching Matter commissioning service found within 15s”. I understand this is a pairing (Bluetooth) issue in the provisioning/ commissioning process which is only used once during adding the device. Also, Google Home does not offer the option “Linked Matter apps & services” when added from the Tapo app. These devices use WiFi not Thread communications. I’ve spent hours/days attempting every combination of adding the device, but I am unable to resolve this error or the Google Home “no hub found” problem. The device cannot be added to Google Home first as Google Home attempts to find a hub prior to provisioning. I’m stuck, does anyone have any ideas outside of purchasing a Matter hub or iPhone? Thursday at 01:59 PM4 days I've also had mixed success with Matter (eisy is running 6.0.5). I've only been experimenting with Matter, not implementing anything for regular use. I bought a used Google home mini, and I first add the device to Google home, then share it to the eisy. I've currently set my experiments aside, waiting for the next IoX update before resuming tests. UDI is actively working on Matter implementation and it will take some time.
Thursday at 03:44 PM4 days Author Thanks for the reply, I've had 11 (recounted) Tapo P125M devices up ad running on my eisy for 6 months. Just cannot add another at this point, thinking it's due to UDI and/or Home control updates. Tks again!
Thursday at 03:58 PM4 days I also seemed to have more success when Matter support first came out in spring 2025. It's almost as if 6.0.5 somehow made it more capricious. Just a thought, not backed up by anything technical.
3 hours ago3 hr I'm getting the same results with P-125M's. I had two of them connected through Alexa and shared out to EISY. I was never able to get them commissioned directly. One of them stopped working a couple of weeks ago (on Alexa also) so I swapped it out today. UD Mobile recognizes it but then fails to commission with the 15 min time out. Also can't cancel the attempt and have to restart UDM. I also noticed each attempt adds an instance in the JSON profiles in the admin console. I'm up to 8 with only one that is working. If you do a synchronize, they all get added back in the device list and have to be deleted.
