Adding new door contact fails

Featured Replies

I Have an Eisy with the Zigbee dongle. I had modified a Zigbee door contact to notify me when my generator is running. The door contact failed after working for a year, and I attempted to replace it with a similar one. When I tried to pair the new contact, my Eisy seemed to lose its mind. It kept interviewing non-existent Zigbee devices and I couldn't make it stop. After 20 minutes or so I rebooted the Eisy. It shows a couple new Zigbee devices (that don't actually exist), but my new device is not in the list. What happened? How can I fix this?

Thanks for any advice.

Try doing an exclude on the new device, then adding it.

Thanks, but since the new device does not show up, how can I do that?

A Zwave exclude doesn't need to have the device existing on your controller. You go into the zwave menu -> exclude device and then press the button or whatever on your device (usually the same as adding a device). That clears any links it has to a controller. Then try the add process again.

....But this is Zigbee, not Zwave. I don't have the menu option to exclude a device.

Ah yes, my mistake! I see ten zwave questions for one zigbee. Sorry, dementia must be setting in...

Zigbee devices will usually have a factory reset procedure. Did you also try bringing it close to the dongle for adding it?
