Changing multiple Hue bulbs' Colors in a Scene

Featured Replies

Guaranteed someone can educate me more on this because I think I am just missing something obvious, as I usually do.

I have 4 Hue bulbs (can lights/downlights) in a screened-in porch. I have grouped them all into a scene to control them together, and I am able to dim them all together, etc. However, I am not quite sure how to adjust all the bulbs to a specific color (i.e., adjust the hue across all 4 in the scene)

I am able to do this for each individual node and adjust the hue for each bulb individually, but I am not quite sure how to "expose" the hue setting in the UI to adjust them all together. What am I missing?

If you go in eisy-ui and bring up the scene, you'll see the controller at the top and the list of responders below it. Now click on the ">" beside (on the left) of the controller and the responders expand to a list of editable boxes. Click on the light you want to configure, and change the Link Type from "Default" to "Command", and a Command box will appear. Pick the setting you want to edit, such as "Set RGB Color", and then you'll be able to set the value to what you want for each parameter. You can really edit everything.

I found a bit of the issue, I had grouped the device nodes for each bulb I added and then when I add the grouped Node to a scene, it doesn show the hue.. If I add the specific Node with Hue it does show in eisy-ui but Not in UD Mobile

That said, How does one expose the capability in UD Mobile?

This capability does not exist in UD Mobile or the Admin Console only in eisy-ui. This is a new implementation, previously there were only static commands for scenes, no hue.

Thanks, @Javi and now that I am reading more thoroughly (apologies, as I am just catching up on things), it seems as though the recommended approach going forward is to begin to utilize only EISY-UI, is that correct? UD Mobile has some interface things that I like quite a bit, such as color changes on status and the hue slider for a given bulb if you change it to a Hue bulb in the UD Mobile interface. No doubt the EISY UI will have some of these improvements over time

If so, is there a way in EISY-UI to have one tile for multiple Hue lightbulbs whereby you can have 3 widgets/controls - 1)on/off bulb, 2)a slider for dimming and 3)a hue slider - Each one of those controls changes all 4 bulbs in unison?

Yes, for some of the suggestions, not quite for hue slider with scenes. Play with favorites edits by adding multiple nodes. Most of the good from UD Mobile will be added to eisy-ui some of the legacy (synchronization !) will not ).

Favorites are scheduled to be moved into a grid so they work well on both Mobile and larger screens with options for multiple sizes.

I have completely given up on the Hue settings for now and just hope to be able to have all 4 bulbs operate on and off and dimming.

I have been messing around for hours now and I just have to be missing something because I cannot figure out how to dim all 4 bulbs with a single widget on a single tile.

what I have tried:

1.) adding all 4 bulbs to a Group > which creates it own Node > then adding that Home Page. when I try to add a widget, I only get (Divider, Group Mean Status, Group Members, and scene command Buttons) See below

2.) Adding multiple nodes to the Tile. Then adding a widget, I select dimmer(good that it shows up this way), but then it wants to assign a command to that widget, which is specific to a single node(i.e one of the bulbs)

Any suggestions on how to get a single widget to dim multiple lights?

The Bad News:
The issue is status, scenes do not have a status, a widget requires both a command and status, the status is used to set the current position of the slider. Scenes allow command can be set to all members, but combining status for all members presents issues. While this seems easy, what happens when on bulb is off and one is on, the mean is 50% but neither light is at 50%. So it is easy to set multiple devices to a value, difficult to make a slider or other widget.

In UDM we use this mean status, and this is frequently debated and incorrect. At some point we may implement the same as UDM, but is likley months out at this point.

The Good News.
This will work with programs but is not instantaneous, will also work with setting hue for all Devices.

Choose one device as the controller then track its status and set a variable.

Then either create a scene with the other devices as "default" and set the scene to the variable OR set each device to the variable. Note my device is named '(Use Scene) Living Room Dimme' ..not a great name for this example.

Default (Do not use native as ON percentage commands do not pass through native):

OR Each Device:

Now control the device selected as the controller, the program will update the others
