Communication problem

I kep getting too busy, but I need help.... I keep losing "contact" with my ISY-991/pro. The only way I can restore communication is with a factory reset.

I perform a factory reset, resetup my deviecs (only a few for now) and everything works for a few days then i lose communcation and automation stops....

Any ideas?

Hi fuzzersteve,

I understand but, unfortunately, we do not have enough information to figure out what's causing the issue.

Please do be kind enough to let me know:

1. By factory reset, what are you actually factory resetting? ISY? PLM? The switches? All? Any combination there of?

2. What do you mean by losing contact? You cannot find it on the network? What URL do you normally use to access your ISY?

The more information we have the higher the likelihood of finding the cause.

With kind regards,

Michel

I orginally set it up for static IP. i am able to determine the current IP address. I tried connecting thru the web browser, it prompted for usr/pwd. i connected, if I click "administrative console" it fails... I did clear JAVA and it still failed...

Hello fuzzersteve,

Thank you!

This specific error means two things:

1. Either the firmware was not installed properly

2. Something is wrong with the SD Card

Would you be kind enough to try and install 2.8.2 firmware ( http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=5037 ) by using the following URL:

http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp

If you are still having issues, please contact our tech support team so that we can pinpoint the problem. Rest assured that we'll either find the problem or send you a replacement unit.

With kind regards,

Michel

For a minute there I thought we had it...but I got an error

isy%20error.jpg

So, i used telnet and formatted the SDcard, (I think), then tried it again. This time around I clicked "Add" after clicking ok at the "not found" prompt and was able to add and log in there.

I downloaded and then upgraded the firmware to the latest, but am still unable to log in thru "http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/". But I can access once I get the "not found" error...

so this is where I'm at....

Hello fuzzersteve,

Thanks so very much for the update. I must say that I do not think factory reset is actually fixing the issue. I think factory reset is simply making your ISY use DHCP ... are you changing the network settings from DHCP to something else after factory reset?

Now, Not Found means that the Admin Console sent a discovery message on the network and didn't get anything back. Now, since you can use the Add function and connect directly, it means that ISY is accessible via the network but just NOT discoverable.

Would you be kind enough to let me know what firewall software you have? Also, is it possible to put your ISY in the white/trusted list in your firewall?

And, finally, please DO NOT factory reset your ISY the next time this happens. Instead, please go to Configuration | System tab and make sure ISY is on DHCP.

With kind regards,

Michel
