Device Name In Router Table?

When I look at the table of devices attached to my router, there is a name associated with every IP address except the ISY-99i. I don't see any way in the configuration to set a name for this device. Of course, this isn't a big deal, but I'd like to give it a name.

I have a D-Link DI-604.

FW 2.8.2

My router table says ISY99-HOME-AUTO.

If I power cycled the router it then said unknown.

If I did a power cycle of the ISY99i, Router, Computer and DSL Interface. It again said ISY99-HOME-AUTO.

So if the router causes the connection to be reestablished it does not request the hostname, but when the ISY reestablishes the connection then it does. I have to say other devices on the network sometimes show hostnames and sometimes do not for my setup. Like right now I have 8 things connected to my router and none of them show a hostname except for my iPhone.

Thanks,

Hi Brian,

DHCP Offer-name is only sent in the following conditions:

1. ISY is rebooted and it's trying to get a new lease

2. ISY is trying to renew the lease

In the case where ISY has a lease and the router is rebooted, and if ISY does not know that the router has been rebooted, then it will not try to renew/rebind and thus the unknown.

With kind regards,

Michel
