bocarob Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I have had your product for some time I live in Florida many brown out power surges and storms From time to time even with a surge protection etc the unit will get locked up not 100% seems just the net part. Could you consider a reboot ( as cold as you could go vie internal command) command so we can include it in a program just to recycle the unit from time to time to insure that any corruption or hang could be reset it would really be a big help.. Thank You REGARDS Robert
Michel Kohanim Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Hello Robert, We have added very many features to ensure networking is backup after power reset. Please look for our 2.8.3 release. As far as automatic reboot, I am afraid that this may cause some unintended behavior especially if you have programs that are supposed to run at reboot. With kind regards, Michel
bocarob Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 I thank you may have miss understood not a auto reboot but a option under system in programing to include a reboot in a program. This way we have the option to invoke based on action or time you could also have a flag to set prior to exaction to ignore reboot programs etc. This way just in case if there is a problem it could be cleared or try to recover. Now I have to have the plm plugged into a time clock and reboot the plm and the system every 24 hours having to plug this into a time clock makes noise which cause communication problems. Regards Robert
Michel Kohanim Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Hello Robert, I did understand what you had suggested. My only problem is that with this approach, if there's anything wrong, we'll never ever be able to find the root cause. As a matter of fact - and ironically - I have been hearing increasing number of people reboot their routers regularly because they are told it improves the performance (or clears the routing tables, etc.). If your system does not come back up after a power outage, then there IS something wrong and I would like to figure out what it is and provide you with an actual remedy. With kind regards, Michel
