Something that I think would be nice:

 

A background link checker. At a very slow rate cycle through every device in the system and check its links. Report any errors found.

We have had this requested before but we had to pass simply because it might wreck havoc on everything else including program execution (in case there's indeed network trouble).

 

This will require an extension to programs to basically figure out if any programs are going to run before starting this process. Furthermore, for programs that are triggered base on device events, then we will have to have conflict resolution routines. It's really not a trivial task.

It still might be nice to put this in but not as a background check. It could be designed such that you disable all programs and run the test. Come back an hour later and see the results. It would be easier nice to be able to hit one test button and have the whole system screened for errors.
