Failed Communication

I have been communicating with a 2475S Switch for months and now it will not work. The errors I get when attempting to re-link it is:

 

[-200000] Failed writing the highwater mark [n/a]

[-200000] Node - not added failed removing links [14 C4 11 1]

 

Is there somewhere that explains these errors more?

I have not seen one that helps solve any problems. There is a list of error messages here:

Unfortunately, this list offers little help (at least to me) deciding how to procede. Maybe others can point to lists with better explanations on the root cause of these error and how to solve them.

 

Fortunately, I don't get these very often. When I do, I just resort to the normal troubleshooting methods....remove and re-add, factory resets, communication tests and troubleshooting methods.

The link database requires a null record at the end of the active link list. This is sometimes referred to as the high water mark in some of the Insteon docs. What operation are you trying to perform, add device to a Scene, remove device from a Scene, etc.? Are you able to control the in-line linc manually through the Admin Console and does the switch respond to changes to the Sense line?

 

Suggest turning on the Event Viewer with Change level 3 to see the actual failure to confirm high water mark problem.

 

It sounds like a powerline communication problem. Whether it is a problem with the device in general or something specific to the link database should be determined by the ability to control the device manually through the Admin Console.

I'm having similar problems with the same kind of Insteon Device. I tried LeeG's suggestion of using Event Viweer and changing to level 3 and this is what I received. The 2475S is inside an exterior flood light. What does this indicate?

All commands sent to 08.84.70 fail to get any response from device. Six commands were sent, all timed out. Look for unswitched power going to the InLineLinc. An outside flood would have been on a switch. Perhaps the switch is Off or the wiring was not changed correctly to supply 120v at all times.

 

Could be a coupling problem where the PLM is on one 120v leg and the InLineLinc is on the other.

 

Check to see if the manual On Off buttons on the InLineLinc work. That will give an indication of power being at the device. When the problem is resolved the INST-ACK 02 62 messages will be followed by INST-SRX 02 50 messages from the device.

 

Also note the ISY is not at 3.2.6. If this is a new InLineLinc Relay it is an I2CS device which requires 3.2.6. That is not the immediate issue as the device is not responding at all but will be once the communication problem is resolved if this is a new InLineLinc Relay.

 

EDIT: Brians suggestion to check the Insteon address is very good. Eights and Bs are easy to misread. Double check the Insteon address label to be sure one of the 8's is really not a B.

I don't see any received messages back from the device.

Do you have any Dual Band Devices and verified with the communications tests on each phase of the home?

Your PLM is not on an UPS, Filtered Surge Strip or the same outlet as the computer?

 

You may want to verify you have the correct Insteon six digit ID number.

 

Any other devices in the home that seem to be intermittent or need a few retries to be controlled?
