Hello all,

Release 2.8.6 RC2 is now available. Although this firmware has been tested thoroughly, please note that this is still a beta firmware. Please do be kind enough to :

1. Test programs especially those that activate scenes based on the status of other programs

2. Test Linking/Adding Devices/Creating and/or Modifying Scenes and Adjusting Scenes within programs

3. Observe any type of network anomaly

4. Checkout UI enhancements and fixes

For a list of changes, please take a look at this post:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475

Please note that ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds.

Instructions

1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY)

2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip

ISY 99 Only - http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... _2.8.6.zip

3. It is very important that you use your current ISY's Admin Console to perform the upgrade by going to your http://your.isy.ip.address/admin. For MAC users, if upgrade fails, please try https://your.isy.ip.address/admin

4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system]

5. Choose the file saved in step 2

6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache

7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console:

a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only)

b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only)

c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet

d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application

e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.6 - applet

f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.6/admin.jnlp - Java application

8. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new one:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rtificates

IMPORTANT

Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started.

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

Having trouble downloading the update from your server. The download gets to about 12% then hangs, forever. I have tried it on 2 computers here. Not sure if its my network your yours.

Thanks,

Tim

With several folks having successfully installed that image, including myself, sounds like something happened during download. I seem to remember a past post where a firewall was preventing a good download. Maybe download new copy and try again. Good idea to take a backup before trying though.

Once downloaded from the site upgrade went smoothly. All programs seem to be running fine.

Once again, Thanks UDI for your continued outstanding support!!!

If i leave the admin console & event viewer open for more than 5 to 10 min everything quits updating. does not show any traffic if i try to query nothing happens but i can control everything. if i close it and reopen it is running thru the query and everything shows up for another 5 to 10 mins

All good so far. As a Mac user I have had to use HTTPS for all updates for a while else it gets stuck at 12% or 13% with various errors.

The HTTPS method has worked flawlessly for updates. I have had to use this method exclusively since 2.7.13.

Installed with no problems.

I can confirm that the "compare links" function has been corrected.

Unfortunately, I had not performed due diligence on 2.8.5...

On both 2.8.5 and .6 versions, after first opening the admin console -

1) Right clicking a device on the tree and selecting "show device links" results in only the 1st link being displayed.

2) Performing the device link display from the tools menu works as normal.

3) Subsequent right clicks from the device tree perform the "show device links" function properly (entire list displayed).

Closing the admin console and restarting will reset at 1) above.

My apologies for not bringing this up sooner.

I am pretty sure you guys are aware of it but:

On the Mac the slider indicators for on level and ramp rate in a scene get all screwed up if the scroll bar is used to scroll down the list of devices included in the scene.

I updated to 2.8.6 and my schedules and programs are running well.

However I did notice starting with 2.8.5 and more so with 2.8.6 many email notifications are not working. I use a lot of notifications, especially when scripting a new program. Day to day I have fewer.

For example I have a program that is triggered by "dusk" being set on - and the email notifications for this have stopped. The lights it turns on work fine, so I know the program is being executed, it just seems to ignore the notifications line.

Yet I have an email notification for a separate program triggered by motion detection that does work. The only difference between these is a trigger by control instead of by status, but I do not see why that could make a difference.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks in advance ...

Not sure if this is an issue with 2.8.6 or Gmail, but email notifications via gmail completely stopped working. Test via ISY admin console returns a "Mail Server Failure [password not accepted]" error.

I verified the password at the Gmail website and re-entered/re-saved details but no luck.

This may be an issue with TLS encryption. Apple's "Mobile Me" smtp server (which requires authentication, but does not require TLS) works fine if the "use TLS" option is not selected but also generates a "password not accepted" error if a TLS connection is attempted.

I am having the same issue with 2.8.6 and gmail failing with the message:

Mail Server Failure

[Password not accepted]

I verified that I could access gmail from my computer using the same user name and password that is configured in the isy

Hello Illusion,

As a matter of fact, no, I was not aware of this issue and it works here on my 32 bit Snow Leopard. It might be an intermittent problem ... we are going to do more testing and see if we can reproduce it.

For those with notification issues, would you be kind enough to do a Test using:

SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com

SMTP port: 587

Userid: isyalerts@gmail.com

Password: holamola

Timeout: 2500

TLS: checked

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,

I changed my email settings as you requested and tried testing email again. I am still getting the Mail Server Failure

[Password not accepted] error message.

I assumed you knew about this as it has been an issue since 2.7.4:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... 1127#21127

I only mentioned it now because you have changed from Beta to RC2 and I wanted to let you know about it again before an official release.

In my case it is 100% repeatable, and has been on every version I have used since at least 2.7.4, regardless of java upgrades and operating system upgrades.

Using the Admin.jnlp application or the admin console through the browser selecting a scene with lots of devices in it and using the scroll bar mouse drag method to scroll down the list will result in incorrectly rendered level and rate slider indicators. The indicators will render on the far left of the detail window instead of on the slider bars.

Bringing up another window on top of the admin console will return the sliders to their bars, but it will leave the incorrectly rendered indicators on the left of the scene level/rate window as well.

This only happens on my Mac, not my Windows machine

Hi Michel,

I reverted to firmware 2.8.3 and retested. These settings work in 2.8.3 but do not work in 2.8.6. Mail providers that do not require TLS encryption work with either version.

Cheers,

The update completed successfully.

I can also confirm notifications not working with 2.8.6 using gmail. Same settings that worked in 2.8.5 do not work now in 2.8.6.

Tried the setting as per Michel reccomdations and they also fail...[Password not accepted]
