Hotmail Setup

I need help setting up ISY to use Hotmail to send out alerts. The Default works but it would be great if I can get hotmail to work.

 

I have ISY version 2.8.8 and in the Configuration tab -> Settings/Groups

 

SMTP Server : smtp.live.com SMTP Port : 25 or 587

USERID : xxxx@hotmail.com Password : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

From : ISY Alert Timeout(ms) 1,000

Use TLS : checked

 

I would get "Mail Server failure [Connection failed]" error.

 

What should be the right settings?

I was never able to get hotmail to work reliably.

 

I created a Gmail account solely to use as SMTP for the ISY.

Works great.

Hello bktong,

 

That specific error simply means that ISY could not connect to the server. Please ensure:

1. the server hostname/port are correct

2. you are not being blocked by your ISP

3. in most cases, From field causes rejections (they use your account information for From)
