Michel Kohanim Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Hello all, Thanks so very much for all your help in this beta cycle. If no serious bugs are found, 2.8.12 shall become our official release. Added support for PRO series and therefore the continuation of Beta. Please do be kind enough to : 1. Motion Sensor 2. Load Controllers and BiPhy Devices 3. DSCLinc and program execution For a list of changes, please take a look at this post: http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475 Notes: 1. ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds 2. Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started Instructions: 1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY) 2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip ISY 99i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.12.zip OR 992i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.12.zip OR 994i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.12.zip 3. Important Due to invalid Java certificate chain in releases 2.8.5 and above, please make sure to remove all Universal Devices certificates from Java: a. Close all browser sessions b. Open Java Control Panel (Java Preferences on MAC) c. Click on the Security tab. Remove all Universal Devices certificates (on MAC, click on the '-' button at the bottom) e. Clear your Java Cache ( http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache ) f. Go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.12/admin.jnlp 4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system] 5. Choose the file saved in step 2 MAC users: if upgrade fails, please add https://your.isy.ip.address to ISY Finder (see 3f above) 6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache 7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console: a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only) b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only) c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.12 - applet f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.12/admin.jnlp - Java application 8. Brian H Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Installed fine. Will keep an eye out for any strangeness. Quote
mvprj84 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Perfect here, too. I'm just wondering though... something that I've noticed that has happened for quite awhile for me. Do any other Mac users notice that the software always starts with all folders expanded, regardless of whether you go through and collapse them? This obviously isn't a very important bug, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't some sort of workaround or something that I'm missing. I've never had this problem on Windows though... it seems to remember the state I left the folders on there. (and I've cleared out my Java cache plenty to see if there is something screwed up there) Quote
CopyRon Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Followed instructions or so I thought, can no longer find my ISY. I have benn trying every version as available and this is the first to fail. I have tried a different PLM and every trick I know to no avail. Help!!! Quote
CopyRon Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Left the ISY unplugged for 5 minutes, everything is suddenly working! Quote
jaycanter Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Mines doing the same thing had to unplug it then it's there when i opened admin console it didn't show the status then after a min it started checking and showing up. i have had to reset 3 times this moring to find it on the network Quote
Candide Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Upgraded from 2.8.11 - no issues so far. Quote
rlav Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Followed procedure. Upgrade from 2.8.11 failed. Only http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.12 works but to access the SLL Certificates mode. Factory Reset, Restore 2.8.11, Restore ISY from backup. I am back up and running. I initially try to restore 2.8.12 after the factory reset. It came back with 2.8.12 working. After reloading my backup, I was back to SSL Certificates. I started over again. Let me know what information you need to help troubleshoot the problem. Robin L. Quote
CopyRon Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Performed full reset on ISY, had to hold button on for almost 30 seconds. Tried to restore from .12 back up - failed. Restored from .11 back up - all is well again. About says I am at 28.12 I had cleared my certificate during trouble shooting, interestingly, I now have 2 UDi certificates. Quote
RatRanch Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Firmware 2.8.12 was also unstable for me. After upgrading, I got into the admin console once and attempted to query all devices. The console hung mid-query, reporting socket and xml parse errors. After that incident, the ISY was completely hosed. I could not telnet to it and any attempt to load the admin console (locally or from http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.12/admin.jnlp) caused the network interface to shut down, i.e., it stopped responding to pings. I reset the ISY several times, both with and without the PLM attached, but could never even telnet to it. The ISY accepted a connection but never got to requesting authentication. I rebooted the ISY several times and ran a continuous ping. It failed to return packets as soon as I tried to load admin console. After several more reset attempts (the successful one using the reset button instead of a power cycle), I finally got to the point where I could reload firmware 2.8.11 and the system is stable again. Note that I did NOT do a restore after reloading 2.8.11 to get the system stable again. -Jim Quote
GeorgeRufle Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I noticed in the list of changes that it says under enhancements "support for pro series". Does that mean previous updates didn't support the ISY99i-pro? Also I notice that there are three choices for downloads. For an ISY99i-Pro which link does one choose? What are the differences between the three choices of downloads? Quote
Brian H Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 ISY99i version. I didn't see anything not working with my Pro and older revisions. Quote
GeorgeRufle Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Tried the update again following the directions at the beginning of this thread and now the ISY is unresponsive. While I was upgrading I had Hyperterm connected and here is what was output ......... note the memory error at the very last line. GeorgeRufle Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I managed to recover from my upgrade. 1- Hold the ISY99 reset button in for at least two reset cycles as observed on the serial port using Hyperterm, about 40 seconds. 2- Connected using the admin console. Note that everything gets reset back to factory defaults. 3- Did a manual firmware update back to 2.8.10 4- Restored the ISY99 state from the backup for 2.8.10 Now I'm functional although my firmware is at 2.8.10 Quote
macjeff Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I just got the unit so I dont know if the bug existed in previous versions but if you link to a motion sensor 2420M and go to the settings, the checkbox for On Only Mode is incorrect. The manual is correct in that checked means only ON commands but the checkbox says checked is ON/OFF. Since it is ON only mode it is logical that checked would be ON ONLY. So I think its just a matter of reversing the text there. Will keep testing 2.8.12. MacJeff Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Hello All, 1. Pro Series refers to SmartHome Pro series lines of products. It has nothing to do with ISY 2. GeorgeRuffles, would you please reset your password, take a backup and send it to support@universal-devices.com ... out of memory is quite serious and we need to figure out what's causing it immediately (thanks so very much!) 3. rlav, we seem to be going through the same sequence every time we have a new upgrade ... please contact our tech support on Monday so that we can figure out once and for all what's causing all these errors for you ( I suspect firewall) Now, the changes between 2.8.11 and 2.8.12 are so minimal that it's quite surprising to note difficulties. For those who are having problems and are not listed by name above, would you be kind enough to let me know: 1. Do you have DSCLinc or any type of REST application which might be activating programs 2. Do you have any other ISY clients (such as MobiLinc, Conductor, TouchSwitch, etc.) 3. Have you used File | Enable Internet Access to enable Internet Access? If so, please disable and check again. Lately, with many new routers (especially Verizon and ActionTec), UPnP has been causing interoperability issues with ISY With kind regards, Michel Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Hello MacJeff, Thanks so very much. Fixed! With kind regards, Michel Quote
macjeff Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Your welcome Michel. This may or may not be a bug but I have a couple of controlincs I just setup. They work fine but if I use a switch to control a device linked to the controlinc the status of the control linc does not change. It wont let you add it as a responder and if you add another device with it as a controller in the same scene it wont even change the status. I even tried a program with no luck. Only way seems to be to hit the button or ignore the status of the actual button. Jeff Quote
LeeG Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 The ControLinc is a Controller Only device (same as a Remotelinc). The Admin Console is showing the last command issued by the respective ControLinc button. The ControLinc has no Responder capability. It cannot be assigned as a Responder nor can its status be changed by another Controller. Quote
jsandlin Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Upgraded to 2.8.12 from 2.8.11 and lost all communication with the ISY. Power cycled several times with no luck. Did a reset still no communication? Finally held the reset button for two reset cycles and could get back in. The about page said 2.8.12 but everything else was back to factory. It was getting late so I reinstalled 2.8.11 and restored from a backup. It is now back up and running as before. I have installed every firmware for about the last two years and this was the first one, other than the certificate problem in 2.8.9 that has given any problem. I am back up and running so it was no problem just wanted to let you know that I also had a problem. Quote
CopyRon Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 The only thing I did between 28.11 and 28.12 was download Home Automation 4 Free. I couldn't find an uninstall for it. Quote
rlav Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Thank You Michel, I will communicate with support this week. Since I had to restore from Factory Reset for the first time, I notice a few configurations that did not restore from the backup. - Clock / Time Zone. I use custom location - System / Wait while busy and Send compact - SMTP Setting / I use custom setting Network settings, I use a static IP and the restore process asks before restoration. This is great. Robin L. Quote
