Thanks again to everyone for helping with this Beta cycle. Release 2.8.16 is now our official release.

With kind regards,

Michel

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all,

Thanks so very much for your continued support and help during this beta cycle. At this point, this release is quite stable and perhaps one of our most robust and feature filled releases. None of this would have been possible without your help and input. This shall be the last release in this cycle and, if no show stoppers are found within the coming week, it shall become our official release. Thanks again so very much.

Things to test:

Not much except ensuring that your current configuration continues to perform flawlessly.

For a list of changes, please take a look at this post:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475

Notes:

1. ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds

2. Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started

Instructions:

1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY)

2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip

ISY 99i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.16.zip

ISY 992i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.16.zip

ISY 994i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.16.zip

3. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self-signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new self-signed certificate before doing the upgrade:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rtificates

4. Important

Due to invalid Java certificate chain in releases 2.8.5 and above, please make sure to remove all Universal Devices certificates from Java:

a. Close all browser sessions

b. Open Java Control Panel (Java Preferences on MAC)

c. Click on the Security tab. Remove all Universal Devices certificates (on MAC, click on the '-' button at the bottom)

e. Clear your Java Cache ( http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache

)

f. Go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.16/admin.jnlp

5. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system]

6. Choose the file saved in step 2

MAC users: if upgrade fails, please add https://your.isy.ip.address to ISY Finder (see 3f above)

7. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache

8. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console:

a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only)

b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only)

c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet

d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application

e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.16 - applet

f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.16/admin.jnlp - Java application

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

Upgrade process went to 12%, then failed with the following two errors:

Nr. 1 - Upgrade falled: failed uploading file (reported written size is invalid)

Nr. 2 - Socket timeout error

Downloaded the file twice, but upgrade generated the same error each time.

Environment:

MacBook Pro 13" 2009 edition

OS X 10.6.6

Java SE 6 1.6.0_22-b04-307 (32 and 64 bit)

I upgraded from 2.8.8. What should I revert back to?

Michel,

As you know I've had several issues in the past upgrading to the latest release but, I'm pleased to say, that was not the case tonight! And, my Trend Internet Security license expired and when I renewed it I opted to go with a "better" more secure version. Trend caused me absolutely no problems.

Just thought you'd be interested to know that everything went fine!

Tried upgrading by using the admin console app for this release downloaded locally and launched. A dialog came up requesting confirmation to use the certificate for this app, then a "Not Found" error dialog came up subsequently.

Upgraded from 2.8.13 to 2.8.16 without any problems other than the "not found" error which is easily solved by manually entering the http/https address(s).

Although everything works fine including dyndns I have noticed there is no certificate under Java Prefernces/security, even after I went through the self/signed SSL routine, as there was in 2.8.13.

Is this normal/ a non issue or is this something that needs to be addressed?

BTW:This is on an Imac I5

matapan,

Please call our tech support to schedule a call.

mjtyson,

You should have a Universal Devices certificate in the Security tab. If you don't, then you will have all sorts of problems. I do use iMAC and I do have Universal Devices certificate.

With kind regards,

Michel

Updated from 2.8.8 to 2.8.16 with no problems. Followed all instructions including removing java certificates and clearing java files and apps.

Everything appears to work okay except that I have no status of my devices showing when I am on the Main tab of the Admin console. For the dimmers neither the status nor the on level is updated. On level just shows zero. I have complete control of my devices from the Admin console, but even when manually turning on or turning off the device from the admin console, the status remains blank.

Have accessed my admin console via http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.16/admin.jnlp as well as http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.16 and there is no difference. I have queried the devices and still no status change.

Oops, rebooted my PC and now it works. Seems that a reboot was necessary even after following all the instructions.

i received this error as well, but it upgraded fine when I went to https://{ip address} (https instead of http)

Matapan, as Mac users, I use iMac, we need to use https;

I always got stuck at that point as it always failed. Then I noticed a post that said use https.

I have another problem with internet connectivity which I'll have to ask some help again. Forgot to write down how I configured it last time with help of the support staff.

Dan, this has happened several times to me as well. Rebooting the ISY (on the configuration tab) should take care of the no status issue and it's a lot faster than rebooting your PC!

I've notice something not working and I'm not sure when it stopped working. I have a program that disables itself as the final step and it no longer seems to be able to disable itself.

Hello RLIKWARTZ,

Can this program be enabled?

Can you make a simple program that loops through some iterations:

1. Enables program A

2. Runs Then on program A

3. Waits few seconds

In Program A, in the Then simply have it disable itself.

While this is going on, please go to the Program Summary tab and notice the enable/disable status of Program A. If it disables itself then there must be something else wrong somewhere else.

With kind regards,

Michel

I tried something on a lark. I updated the disable problem line so it was the same except updated and then saved the program and it started working.

Hello all,

Just a note to thank you all for going through this Beta cycle with us without which none of this would have been possible. I am glad to inform you all that 2.8.16 shall be our official release and posted tomorrow. If you already have 2.8.16 installed, no other action is necessary.

Exciting news is that our next Beta cycle (3.x) will start this coming Monday (02/28/2011) and will include some support for variables:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=5987

Thanks again and with kind regards,

Michel
